January 18, 201313 yr Hi I have installed this beautiful aircraft into P3d ,the author states it should work with P3d and i have also read it does work well in P3d ,well it looks superb ,but no gauges show ,the HUD works fine and switches are all OK and it fly's well ,I know it needs accelerator installed which is installed in FSX ,I believed that P3d included accelerator ,it was first installed into FSX and then drag /drop into P3d ,does anybody have any clues why this aircraft refuses to show its gauges many thanks for reading peter
January 18, 201313 yr Peter, Dino's T-45 does work with P3D. I have it installed. May I recommend the Flightsim Estonis Migrator tool. I've used it to install the T-45 without issue. Its cheap and is worth the investment when installing addons. But if you care to do it by copying and pasting from FSX, you'll need to copy the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Boeing_T45C folder from FSX to the P3D install. Theres also (2) files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects that need to be copied over also. They are named fx_navorange_t45.fx and fx_t45_vclight.fx. Thats should be all thats required to do it manually. The only other thing that might be required would be if the Goshawk is using some files from the Acceleration Hornet. I do have the Acceleration Hornet and the FSXBA mod installed in P3D. However I uninstalled FSX so I'm unable to tell you exactly what files had to be moved to P3D in regards to the Hornet. I'd try the above andsee if that fixes your problem. If not I'd try moving the Hornet over but theres likely other files that need to be moved in addition to the SimObjects folder. Look in Effects, Gauges, Sounds and Fonts for anything that is named F-18. Hope I'm not confusing you, Good luck Mark
January 19, 201313 yr Peter , I'm probably confusing you here. I just realized this morning that I have an earlier version of the Goshawk installed. This version was installed via an .exe and I used the Migrator tool to install it to P3d. The newest version (v232) of the Goshawk requires you to simply unzip the contents to your P3D root folder. I just installed and tested it , everything works fine. If its not working for you then the only thing I can think of is what I mentioned in the above post. Try moving the Accel. Hornet over to P3D. Hope you get it straightened out. PS One good result came from your post, I now have the latest version and youre right it is a beauty.
January 19, 201313 yr Author Hi thanks for your post ,I must admit I did find it confusing as the file I had was the last version,as you said I could not figure out how to use the Migrator tool with it ,certainly Made me scratch my head then I thought that you might have had a previous version ,I just extracted it to my simobjects aircraft,is that the wrong place ? ,The circular gauges work good its the two square screens ? that show nothing cant seem to switch on or get to work ,back to head scratching many thanks for your reply peter
January 20, 201313 yr Peter, Two items to consider. First, make sure you extract the zip file into your root P3D directory, for example C:\P3D. It'll add the necessary files in the appropriate folders (SimObjects and Effects). Second, and this may be the problem, on page 19 of the manual it states: "NOTE: This FSX rendition uses the default avionics for F/A-18 Hornet, hence the functions of the MFD and HUD display will differ from the ones in the real T-45C Goshawk. Some controls act differently and some functions are may be missing or may be working only partially. Also, the real Goshawk has no radar and no radar functionality – although radar simulators are being developed. Although ENG and FUEL pages may appear functional, their values may be incorrect. Only analogue gauges shall be trusted for engine and fuel readings." I dont know exactly what to make of that. Its possible that you'll need to move the Accel. Hornet over to P3D. Like I stated previously, I have already moved the Hornet to P3D which may be why its working without issue for me. I'd make sure you extracted the zip to the correct location first and if it doesnt work then try moving the Hornet to P3D. It does work, its just a matter of fiddling with it. Hang in there! Mark
January 20, 201313 yr Author Hi thanks for all your help Guys, finally found a file called FA-18dll in the fsx gauge folder ,I had missed it when looking before (to late at night to see is my excuse) ,moved it into P3d gauges and all is fine, everything visible ,but strange thing when the gauges were not working correctly it flew like a dream now with gauges all working .I am making lots of trim adjustments .maybe all in my mind ,it certainly is a very good looking aircraft, cant wait to try it on a aircraft carrier ,anybody know a good one for P3d? ,well done and thank you to Dino Cattaneo for this aircraft thanks everybody for all you advise and help peter
January 20, 201313 yr Glad you got it all sorted. As far as CarrierOps go, I use Javiers Nimitz and AICarriers2. Both can be found in the Avsim File Library. If you care to take it a step further and make traps a real challenge, try vLSO. It can be found on the FSDreamteam forums. While your there look for a post about "Pitching Deck". Its in beta but I've tried it and it works pretty good. theres a few issues with it though. These four programs will make for some entertaining (oops did i say that ) CarrierOps. And all work in P3D. FYI, vLSO is not easy. It took quite some time to be able to get it right. Catching a wire isnt very hard. Doing it right by staying in the groove so you dont get a wave-off is.
January 21, 201313 yr Author Hi there ,I have now finished installing Javiers Nimitz and AICarriers2 ,Just to ensure I had no trouble finding the carrier and everthing was installed correctly ,I set it up to position the carrier 1 mile away !,and there it sat bang on the end of the runway at Norfolk in the USA !,it certainly looked good ,but it was not really what i had wanted, anyway at least it is installed ,now for vSLO ,more challenges now finding out how to use the carrier ,many thanks to all that replied peter
