  1. Just a headsup, orbxlibs for P3D 2.5 are available for D/L
  2. +1 My recommendation... When Rob talks we all should listen
  3. Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow ye diet. Happy New Year to all ! !!
  4. Finally got around to installing AICarriers2r2 and Javiers Nimitz (in that order) into a clean install of P3DV2.3. I've got the ball !!. I couldnt see the lights in previous versions of P3D versions but theyre visible now. Maybe someone else can confirm this. Also there are some updated night lighting textures for Carrier Ops here: http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,10759.msg83544.html#new Havent tried these yet dont want to bust my ball
  5. Video of Helios, VRS Bug and FSX.
  6. Its been a couple years since I made a profile for the DCS Warthog so I forgot most of what I learned about using Helios but this thread got me tinkering with it again. Just for the hell of it I threw a gear lever into a profile and bound it to send a keyboard command (g). Saved it , fired up P3DV2.2 and gave it a shot. Swiping the gear lever did work in P3D. There is no built in interface for FSX/P3D in Helios so youre limited to binding keystrokes to your controls but it will work. BTW, you dont need a touchscreen to use Helios. You can just create a quick profile and use your mouse to activate your desired controls. The latest version of Helios doesnt have a manual provided with it so you'll have to check and see if you can get an older version from Gadrocks site, one that may have an outdated manual. Google may be your best friend playing around with Helios.
  7. Vaughan, Definitely missing that terminal and more than likely some other buildings on the grounds (storage tanks etc.). Your screenshot doesnt look anything like what I'm seeing. I can post a pic later if need be.
  8. Try right clicking on your P3D icon then select Properties then Compatibility. See if "Disable desktop composition" is checked. If it is uncheck it.
  9. Thx for the headsup. I didnt realize there were issues until I read the EMT support page. The Migration tool didnt auto update from within the program so you might need to get the update from the support page at least until Paavo officially releases the update. Thx again

Downloaded the mp4 file and I have to say thats pretty darn smooth. I get some stuttering, nothing too annoying but still theres room for improvement on my end. I'll give this a shot although I think I'll have to go the 59hz route.
  11. Same thing happened to me. I tried to installl right from WinRAR without actually unpacking the zip file. It ran fine right to that point and then just froze. I just cancelled out and unpacked the zip and restarted the installation and it finished in about 30 secs. Seems like it froze on the directX and dotnet updates. I'm thinking it was the fact that I didnt unpack the zip that caused the problem but could be wrong. Anyway you can just cancel out at the point it froze and restart the install. Worked for me
  12. I've been using the Accel. Hornet for a while now. Works just fine in V1.4. I'm also using Dinos Tomcat and Goshawk both of which require Accel. I had to do some copying of files from FSX to get them working but it wasnt all that difficult. Somewhere in forums theres a discussion on how its done. Carrier Ops works fine with vLSO and AICarriers2. I'm gonna find out real soon whats gonna work in V2. I'm wondering if Dinos F-35 uses these files, if so then possibly you wont have to fool with copy/paste fom FSX since the Lightning is included in V2. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.
  13. Take a look at this thread...http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=8926.0 I guess they never determined what caused the beeping to start in the first place but found the alarm causing the issue and stopped it by removing a sound file. this is probably not the answer your searching for but may give you a lead or two on where to look. Thats if its the same problem.
  14. Yes I had that experience. I'm not at my sim puter but if I recall the road actually exists at that location but is an underpass. For whatever reason it's rendered at ground level. I fixed the problem at this airport by either turning off traffic in FSX or changing a traffic setting on UTX. Sorry cant check which one right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  15. Vaughan, The VRS Bug will not work in P3D. I spent hours trying to get her working to no avail. Carrier Ops work fine in P3D but be prepared to spend a little time setting things up depending on what route you take. First you'll need a carrier capable aircraft (theres no Hornet in P3D). You'll need to move the Acceleration Hornet from FSX to your P3D install. Be aware that there are files other than the files in the FSX\SimObjects folder that need to be moved. I dont have FSX installed any longer so I cant check them but you'll need to look in the \Effects, \Sound, \Fonts and \Gauges folders. Your looking for any file that has FA-18 in its name. That should get the Acceleration Hornet working . If you feel ambitious you can mod that Hornet with Sludges Hornet or the FSXBA Hornet. I use both. I prefer to use AICarriers2 which can be found in the AVSIM library. It allows you to place a boat in front of you as you fly. The boat can be stationary or moving you decide. I'll fly out of Pensacola and drop a carrier about 10 miles offshore. In addition Javier's Nimitz and Ike can be installed and work well with AICarrires2. They're also in the library. Finally , you can add a nifty little program called vLSO. It will give LSO callouts and grade your pass. Its not easy but if you like a challenge give it a go. Heres a link to a vid up on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23Efp-IU CarrierOps work fine but you might have to spend a little time sorting things out. Enjoy
  16. Shift+U to lower the launch bar (need to be near the cat), Shift+I to raise blast shield then Shift+Space to launch. Shift+Q to raise and lower hook.
  17. same here, back to http://forum.avsim.net
  18. The EULA is between the "Licensee" and the "Licensor". It shouldn't be of any concern to you what others do. That's how I read it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Seriously, who reads the EULA. I must have hundreds of software cd's including OEM software and hardware and the only thing I could tell you about any EULA is theres an "accept" button. If you take my money I'm will use the software I paid for. The only way thats happens is to click "accept" regardless of whats in the fine print. So sue me..lol
  20. Todd, AICarriers2 is working fine with P3D on my end. I dont have FSX on my HDD any longer. And I dont recall having any issues when I originally installed AICarriers2. Are you trying to install from AICarriers2r2.zip (latest version)? AICarriers2 starts from the exe.xml file for P3D, for example C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\exe.xml. Once started you should see a options for it under Addons in the P3D menu bar. It can also be started manually from wherever you selected to install it for example C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\aicarriers.exe. As far as I can recall I never had to move any ships from FSX to P3D to get it working but its been over a year. I more than likely used the Estonia Migrator Tool to install it to P3D also. I'd check that version of AICarriers. EDIT: Just glanced thru the Readme for AICArriers and noticed this tidbit of info: - Hard deck ship models : Hard pad versions of the standard cruiser and destroyer models included with FSX. Note that this option is useless and thus disabled if you have the Acceleration XPack since it already contains hardened models. I'm not going to run the installer to check it out for fear of trashing whats working now but it sounds like there may be an option to enable/disable certain ship models during the install. Take a look at that also.
  21. I really cant believe that I've made the mistake of purchasing a $50 flightsim "driven by the needs of Lockheed Martin's Mission Systems and Training business".... I feel like such a fool.
  22. Well so far we have received V1.4 which on my setup and personal experience is far more stable than FSX ever was. P3D is not leaps and bounds ahead of FSX as far as performance/frame rates are concerned but it is absolutely more stable. It cost me $50 bucks. I'm all over that deal regardless of all the EULA BS. As far as compatibility concerns going forward, there arent any here. All my current addons will still work in 1.4 or in the worst case scenario, going back to FSX (which has been long gone from my hard drive). If V2 stays within a reasonable price structure I'm going to be on board.
  23. Glad you got it all sorted. As far as CarrierOps go, I use Javiers Nimitz and AICarriers2. Both can be found in the Avsim File Library. If you care to take it a step further and make traps a real challenge, try vLSO. It can be found on the FSDreamteam forums. While your there look for a post about "Pitching Deck". Its in beta but I've tried it and it works pretty good. theres a few issues with it though. These four programs will make for some entertaining (oops did i say that ) CarrierOps. And all work in P3D. FYI, vLSO is not easy. It took quite some time to be able to get it right. Catching a wire isnt very hard. Doing it right by staying in the groove so you dont get a wave-off is.
  24. Peter, Two items to consider. First, make sure you extract the zip file into your root P3D directory, for example C:\P3D. It'll add the necessary files in the appropriate folders (SimObjects and Effects). Second, and this may be the problem, on page 19 of the manual it states: "NOTE: This FSX rendition uses the default avionics for F/A-18 Hornet, hence the functions of the MFD and HUD display will differ from the ones in the real T-45C Goshawk. Some controls act differently and some functions are may be missing or may be working only partially. Also, the real Goshawk has no radar and no radar functionality – although radar simulators are being developed. Although ENG and FUEL pages may appear functional, their values may be incorrect. Only analogue gauges shall be trusted for engine and fuel readings." I dont know exactly what to make of that. Its possible that you'll need to move the Accel. Hornet over to P3D. Like I stated previously, I have already moved the Hornet to P3D which may be why its working without issue for me. I'd make sure you extracted the zip to the correct location first and if it doesnt work then try moving the Hornet to P3D. It does work, its just a matter of fiddling with it. Hang in there! Mark
