FSX Aircraft Selection Window

Featured Replies

Is there a utility to allow you to organize the FSX aircraft selection window into categories rather than alphabetically? For example, lets say I want to organize all of my vintage aircraft or my airliners into groups and select from those groups?

RDS

You mean other than via the "Aircraft Category" option in the upper right corner?

I guess that's not possible.

Actually there is:

In the "aircraft.cfg" for each livery IE [fltsim.0], [fltsim.1], [fltsim.2]..etc.

there are a number of "UI" codes that describe each particular plane. Not every plane has this code "ui_typerole="

So for each plane and it's variations you must open up the "aircraft.cfg" file (say with notepad) and ensure there is this line and a CATEGORY of your choosing.

Example

ui_manufacturer=ALPHA

ui_type=B-1B Lancer

ui_variation=1. Kansas ANG (127th Bomber Sqd, 184th Bomb Wing) - McConnell AFB, Wichita, Kansas

ui_typerole="Bomber"

ui_createdby="AlphaSim Ltd"

This plane livery will show up as a Bomber in the aircraft type list.

Another example

ui_manufacturer=Beechcraft

ui_type=Mentor T-34

ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop trainer"

ui_createdby="Carenado"

ui_variation=metallic

shows up in this list as SINGLE ENGINE PROP TRAINER.

You can make up whatever categories you would like including using some that may already be listed.

cheers.
