In the Tutorial 1 it says the following:

 

 

After passing the Detling VOR (DET), you’re going to see VNAV

ALT annunciated in the FMA pitch mode box along with an FMC

message that says RESET MCP ALTITUDE..

 

During the Tutorial I could not see the "RESET MCP ALTITUDE" Where is the message displayed?

Hi,

 

the message is displayed in the FMC's scratchpad (the line at the bottom where your entries show up before you hit any LSK).

Yes, it's a status message and will pop up directly in the scratchpad where you have to take corrective action or actually press the CLR button to remove it.
