January 31, 201313 yr Whenever I fly the NG as a passenger, I notice how unstable it is during TOs and landings, but how stable it is during cruise, climb and decend. So, is it possible to have this king of behavior in the FSX? Because I see the NGX is too stable during TOs and landings. Or maybe it has more to do with wind/thermals not being realistically modeled in the FSX? Teo Halfen
January 31, 201313 yr What are you referring to exactly? There's nothing more unstable about the 737NG than any other aircraft - in fact there are aircraft (such as the MD-11) which are much more unstable during takeoff and approach but it isn't to a degree a passenger would notice. It might just be the fact that during takeoff/landing there's more forces acting on an aircraft - thermals, drafts, acceleration/deceleration, faster changes in pitch etc. that give the impression of instability. I think the air flowing more slowly over the wings and stablilasers also make the NG (like any other aircraft) more prone to be unstabilized by meteorological factors. Another factor of instability during these fases are the deployment of flaps and landing gear.
