joystick problem windows 8

Featured Replies

After booting up FSX and running for about 5 minutes, my Cyborg X joystick is disconnected - and the only controls option left is the Mouse! This was not a problem when running FSX under Windows-7 Home Premium. Only became a problem after upgrading to Windows-8.

(i have try to install the windows 8 drivers, but that is not working for now.)\

I'm running Win8 and I had the same issues using the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke. I presume your joystick is USB.

Firstly you will need to change the option 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' for your joystick.

To view the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box', follow these steps:

Click Start, type device manager in the Start Search box, and then click Device Manager in the Programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties. (There may be more than 1

depending on your computer and hardware). In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. The 'Allow the computer to turn

off this device to save power check box' is displayed. Uncheck it. Click ok. After the steps are performed, it's best to reboot.

You should no longer have any issues with your joystick powering down after 5-10 minutes. Hope this helps. It worked for me.

I found my MS Sidewinder would not connect to FSX at all unless I re-booted after first turning on the PC. Again, this does not happen under W7 and there is no cure in W8.

Since the mental overhead of keeping track of two sets of controls for the two different environments of W8 is tiring, I ended up reverting to W7, thereby solving the controller issue as well. I gave W8 a good shot but IMHO it is not worth the effort.

Cheers,

Noel.
