Controllers Dissapear
I'm running Win8 (same for Win7) and I had the same issues using the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke. I presume your controller to be USB. Firstly you will need to change the option 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' for your controller. To view the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' check box, follow these steps: Click Start, type 'device manager' in the Start Search box, and then right click 'Device Manager' to run as Administrator. In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click on "Generic USB Hub', and then click Properties. (There may be more than 1 depending on your computer and hardware). Identify which hub is being used to power your controller. In the Generic USB Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. The 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' check box is displayed. Uncheck it. Click ok. After the step(s) are performed, it's best to reboot. You should no longer have any issues with your controller powering down after 3-10 minutes when flying. Hope this helps. Performing these steps worked for me.

joystick problem windows 8
I'm running Win8 and I had the same issues using the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke. I presume your joystick is USB. Firstly you will need to change the option 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' for your joystick. To view the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box', follow these steps: Click Start, type device manager in the Start Search box, and then click Device Manager in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue. In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties. (There may be more than 1 depending on your computer and hardware). In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. The 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box' is displayed. Uncheck it. Click ok. After the steps are performed, it's best to reboot. You should no longer have any issues with your joystick powering down after 5-10 minutes. Hope this helps. It worked for me.

Still CTD
One more thing, I first made backups and then removed the files as outlined in the link I provided. FSX ran with no issues. However, I soon found that there was another program I ran on my PC that also used the file uiautomationcore.dll. I then copied the new file (that I had downloaded) and placed it back into the system32 and syswow64 directory. I re-added it using the regsvr32 command. Since I did that, FSX has and still runs with no issues.

Still CTD
I too had issues with FSX crashing right before I landed. My issue was/has been corrected after I replaced the file uiautomationcore.dll.Check out the following link: FSX CTDYou can download the file here: Mediafire - UIAutomationCore.zipHope this helps.

AlphaSim C-17
Hey to all.AlphaSim recently released v1.05 update with the new 2-D panel suite for the C-17.My question: Since I don't see where they have a Support Forum (or do they?), I'm wanting to know if anyone has purchased this product? What are your takes on it? Is it worth the price tag they are asking?Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Straightforward Ariane Question!
David,I agree with what you stated about this product. I too was highly dissapointed. Ariane 738 x2 is a big and total BUST for me! I wasted a lot of money for a product that to me is just, well worthless. This of course is my point of view. I too am waiting for PMDG's version. I don't think I can go wrong with their products since I purchased and fly both the 747 and MD-11.To all who read this and may even consider buying Ariane's products, please read and check all SIM forums for other opinions before purchasing. Who knows, you may like it.

Straightforward Ariane Question!
Address I used is [email protected]. I just recently activated mine. It took over 2.5 days to get a reply back. From the e-mail I received:We apologise for the delay in answering. The delay is mainly due to the unexpected numbers but is also dueto the support following the extremely popular release(and unprecedented demand) of the new McPhat AIRLINE section. Thank you for your understanding.PatB :(

Active Sky X and Reality-XP GNS530WAAS
Sid Starz replied to Sid Starz's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumAfter I posted, I started thinking again (which can be really dangerous sometimes). I run Active Sky X and I also run X Graphics too. This is written in the GNS WAAS 430XP/530XP Users Manual:**************************************Vista32 and Vista64 Compatibility The On some system, it is recommended to disable visual themes for the FS9/X program for the solution to run. Go to the Flight Simulator folder, right click on FS9.exe or FSX.exe (or your shortcut to it), select properties, click the compatibility tab, disable Visual Themes checkbox. Once we find a workaround to this Vista feature, we will publish an update.**************************************I have disabled "Visual Themes", which is really turning off Aero or any other type theme which the OS may be using. If there is an issue with the software running correctly with Visual Themes enabled, could the problem still exist also while running X Graphics even though I've disabled Visual Themes? Just a thought. Just throwing it out there for all who might read this to consider. I'm also posting this on Reality XP's forum.Thanks.Pat

Active Sky X and Reality-XP GNS530WAAS
I've had issues when running Active Sky X along with Reality-XP GNS530WAAS software. For whatever reason, when contacting ATC, frequencies start changing and things start behaving very erratically. It finally settles down but it occurs every time I change freqs. When running FS X w/Active Sky standalone, everything runs fine. When running FS X w/GNS530 standalone, everything runs fine.Put them together, things go boinkers.Has anyone else seen this issue? Thanks.PatBQuadcore Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650, 3ghz | Intel DX38BT | 4GB RAM | NVidia GeForce 8800 GT | Vista 64 | DirectX 10 | FS X Acceleration
