Engine Animations not Working Right

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I'm still pretty new to the NGX and I'm having an issue with the engine animations. Whenever I load the NGX for flight by clicking the "load" button in the free flight menu and selecting a flight, the engines don't look right. The fanblades are not there, but the engines still operate normally. I have tried restarting the sim, but I'm not having any luck. Whenever loading for a freeflight without going through the "load" menu, everything works fine. Any ideas?

I appreciate the help!

Thats the problem i have.

First when i run fsx, i load the cessna by default, then i switch to, lets say the 737-800WL, now everything´s fine but when i switch to another -800 only a different livery then i have this problem you´ve described (but i can see it in the preview) - if i switch then to another model for example the -700 -600 or -900 everythings fine once again and i can normally continue.

So I think if you load a differrent aircraft (default cessna) before loading this flight, maybe it works.

Don´t know if this is the same problem as you have, but maybe it helps you.

This might help...

  • There is a common misconception that when loading a complex simulation like the PMDG 737NGX that you should first load the default Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 737NGX. This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommend the practice at all. What is required however is for the default Ultralight at Friday Harbor to be your default startup state in FSX.
  • One shortcoming of all PMDG products for FSX is that our products do not like to be “re-loaded” on top of themselves. This means that if you have one livery or variant of the airplane selected and running within the simulation world (say, a 737-800 with winglets) and you wish to change liveries to a different 737-800 with winglets, you will need to shut down the simulator and then select the new variant or livery you wish to switch to from scratch. If you load an NGX livery or variant on top of itself you will see strange issues in the cockpit, FSX may CTD or otherwise crash etc.

For me, this issue only occurs when loading a flight from the "load" option in Free Flight (AoA training flight in my case).

Just end flight and re-load it, it will load orrectly. Commonly this issue is present when loading the ngx as default airplane, and you choose another livery before starting the flight.
