"Unable to transfer camera configuration data across to system <client_name>" message

Featured Replies

Hello folks i must say this program so far has great potential , but before i explain my prob.

im running a network of coms, 4 to be correct.

all are running w7 64 bit.

im running a 10 monitor set up with 4 computers.

everything is great as far as connecting the coms together.

loaded opusfsx as prescribed , loaded the stand alone main pc first to test the software

works great.

loaded the second com to load opus fsx to run it over a network.

i was able to get great results in getting it all to work , had a scenic left view and a scenic

right view networked on a second machine.

now here is what becomes a problem.

i can connect to all computers and get into any files i want .

i shared and secured all folders and then some.

Here is when it gets crazy , when i start the main sim and then start the second sim and i

want to set up a real good left side view and right side view.

i followed the quick guide on creating both views on my client , when i then go to save the

cam view i get this error message .

but that’s not all thats happens i now cannot get into the second com until i give them a

username and password.

then i have to go thru all kinds of hoops to get back to te files on the second com.

i can get into the other coms but now not the one running the client and it shows connected

to the fsxserver.

im pretty sure i have all files shared and security drives also.

when i finally get the client back opening for me i try it again and the username and

password crap appears again.

i know im not crazy but what is happening.

right now i have everything ready to set up two views on the second com through the fsx server.

as soon as i set up a view and hit save all cam views that is when i get the error and i cannot get into the client computer anymore thru the network.

What am i doing wrong.............Thanks...........Robert

P.S. i cannot wait to get this program going it looks to be a great for keeps product.

The error message means you must set up your drive sharing, security, permissions etc. as described in the Getting Started guide so that the server and client systems can access each other BOTH ways. You will find your configured camera definition files for your client systems stored in the c:\OpusFSX installation folder on your server system, they are named < CLIENTNAME>.CAM

If the system is asking for a password then the sharing is not set up properly, it won't work since the software cannot get past the password lockout.

Sometimes the sharing and permissions can be set differently on sub folders, this can catch you out.

Perhaps you have installed FSX in the Program Files folder and there is no sharing or access rights to this folder. Also avoid installing OpusFSX in a sub-folder of Program Files since it causes permission problems.

Right click on the your OpusFSX SERVER desktop shortcut icon (C:\OpusFSX\FSXSERVER.EXE) and select Properties, select the Compatibility tab, tick the checkbox to "Run as Administrator". Also set this option for FSXCLIENT.EXE on your optional client PCs.

Have you tried disabling UAC since this can cause problems too.

Yes sir all those things i have done , in fact i can now access my client pc and all others ,

its when i try to create a view on the client from the fsxserver and save all camera views is when the error comes up and then i cannot access the client. i have to start all over again and figure out how to get back in.

you mention the clientname.cam file , I even shared that . what exactly do I need to do with that file

I have Fsx on a separate drive , 1 terra and I have the opus file inside the fsx folder.

As I said I can access my client now I can go wherever I want to go anywhere on any computer I choose that is until I hit the save camera views on the fsx sever , and the error pops up , and then I cannot access the client .

When I say I shared I and the security piece I mean I did every folder you can think of.

My system is geared for the Sim only.

Thanks………….Robert

oh just to let you know i have the fsx server up and running and i have the client up and running and they show they are connected with a green light and it say is connected on both machines.

thanks..............Robert

It's not whether you can access the PCs its whether you have allowed the software to do it. Make sure you have created permissions for 'Everyone' (create the Everyone group if it doesnt exist) on your drives and folders, on all systems, and that you have installed OpusFSX in its own folder, not in program files etc. follow the Getting Started guide for networked systems, step through it on all systems and do not assume it is done because you as Administrator can access the drives and see the folders. The sharing, security and permissions must be created. Turn off UAC on your systems etc.

Well sir perhaps im confused which must be the case , because i have been doing this for quite awhile and im sure i shared and secured every file possible.

c drive shared and secured

f drive

all contents in c drive shared and secured.

same in f drive.

fsx folder shared and secured

opusfsx in the fsx folder shaed and secured.

every folder i can think of on both machines are shared and secured the only thing i have not shared is my wife , and that aint happing:)

So im going to go over the directions again for the , i lost count and see where im messing up.

Thanks.........Robert

If you have OpusFSX installed in a sub folder of FSX then uninstall it and install elsewhere.

Cheryl

Uninstall OpusFSX and install it into its own folder, not in Opus Software, the FSX folder, or program files. Also check you have permissions set for a user group called Everyone as described in the manual. On many systems you may have to add the Everyone group then assign Full Control to that group name. But OpusFSX must not be in the FSX folder, make life simple and just install it in c:\OpusFSX.

Remember with Windows its not just a case of sharing everything, that's why I mentioned security and permissions, you may have to create Everyone group and assign permissions to that group.

Well folks i have tried just about everything to get this error from coming back.

I did everything you asked.

i unistalled opus and reinstalled it on the c drive in its own folder , when i did that the error went away.

i was then able to save cameras views.

But for somereason its back again and i cannot access the client thru the server pc no more , i can access the client thru other client pc's but from ther server.

How can that happen i can get in but now i cannort.

Here is my set up

computer 1

THERMALTAKE-PC

4.2 ghz , 2600k cpu

8 gig ram

hd 1 = 360 gigs on c drive / opusfsx

hd 2 = 1 terra on f Drive is FSX

vid GTX 285

Running 5 monitors , three of them attached to tripleh2go.

the remaing two use for instrument control.

Computer 2

Savage1

AMD 3400+ 2.20ghz

hd 1 = 150 gig on c drive in its own folder is opusfsx.

hd 2 = 150 gig on e drive is where FSX is .

GT 630 vid card

running three monitors from this unit ,

trying to acheive left view and right view from just one client , and i did ,it was working pretty good.

After you gave me the proper way to put opusfsx on the c drive outside of the progams folder , no more error.

Well its back again i cannot get into the client without it asking me for a network password. (and by the way what is the password i never gave it one).

As far as sharing and security i believe i have done all that can be secured and shared on both machines.

please tell what else is there to share.

i have both drives on both machines shared , and all folders within shared and secured.

which folder are we taling about that needs to be shared , maybe im overlooking somthing.

i have read all of your documents on stand alone and networking and live cam etc.

One thing that puzzles me is that i have FSX up and running in windowed mode and i have the FSXserver up and running , and i have the client machine up and running and im getting a green lite saying im connect to the server from the client pc.

yet when i click on the network and try to open the client pc i need a frickin password.

At this point im sort of lost on where to go from here .

Please help .............Robert

As far as the password is concerned you should just need to do the following,

Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Sharing Center - Advanced sharing settings,

Turn on network discovery

Turn on file and printer sharing

Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write ...

Use 128-bit encryption ...

Turn off password protected sharing

Allow Windows to manage Homegroup connections

Have you done this this for both Public and Home and Work profiles.

I assume you are logging into an Administrator account on all machines. That is all we have done on our system and it works OK.

I googled the problem and found this website,

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/windows-7-asks-enter-network-password-when/2a8e6d6f-74a1-43c7-8530-24e8522ea955

which is a different setup to yours since all your PCs are W7 but their suggesion was,

1.Go to control panel, system and security, admin tools, Local Security Policy.

2.Expand Local Policies | Security Options.

3.Double-click Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console login only, which is enabled by default. Disable this option and click OK.

There are links to other suggestions on that webpage.

The other thing to try is create a user account on all machines with the same user name and password and see if that does the trick.

The folders you need to share are OpusFSX and sub folders and the FSX weather themes folder.

You could always set up a Homegroup network if this doesn't work.

Good luck, setting up networks can be frustrating.

Thanks for the help and yes I have done all that and then some , As I said my server can now access the client computer and all folders.

What happens is when I open opus the problem comes back and I have to secure the drive folder all over again. Plus getting the error.

What I decided to do a dump and load of opus on both machines and I will load them again .

As for sharing folders and securing I assure you I have done all those things , in fact right now it is working flawlessly , I can get to all systems through the server both ways , up and down .

So im going to load opus and put them on both machines and I will put them in the c drive in its own folder.

So I will be letting you know……….Thanks…………………….Robert

my server can now access the client computer and all folders

Also make sure your client can access your server, you need full access permissions both ways.

Thanks for that info and while im at your mercy begging for info , im wondering if this exe.xml looks correct for auto start

here is the original xml.

Launch EXE.xml False False False GoFlight FSX Data Bridge False C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight\GFDevFSX.exe OpusFSX Flight Simulator Server for FSX false C:\OpusFSX\FSXSERVER.EXE

this is the notepad

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252" ?>

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">

<Descr>Launch</Descr>

<Filename>EXE.xml</Filename>

<Disabled>False</Disabled>

<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>

<Launch.Addon>

<Disabled>False</Disabled>

<Name>GoFlight FSX Data Bridge</Name>

<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>

<Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight\GFDevFSX.exe</Path>

<CommandLine></CommandLine>

<Launch.Addon>

<Name>OpusFSX Flight Simulator Server for FSX</Name>

<Disabled>false</Disabled>

<Path>C:\OpusFSX\FSXSERVER.EXE</Path>

</Launch.Addon>

</SimBase.Document>

Im not for sure about the exe.xml it looks differant from other xml files .

the ones i have seen are in color and up and down ....what am i missing.....Thanks.Robert

  • Commercial Member

You exe.xml should looks OK to me, it should look something like this,

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='Windows-1252'?>

<SimBase.Document Type='Launch' version='1,0'>

<Descr>Launch</Descr>

<Filename>exe.xml</Filename>

<Disabled>False</Disabled>

<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>

<Launch.Addon>

<Name>OpusFSX Flight Simulator Server for FSX</Name>

<Disabled>false</Disabled>

<Path>c:\OpusFSX\FSXSERVER.EXE</Path>

</Launch.Addon>

</SimBase.Document>

The first time you run OpusFSX sutomatically this way windows will ask if it is a trusted application, you must confirm yes.
