This cannot be happening
Well folks I must say I'm really at a lost on if its worth it anymore , this software is like nothing I have ever dealt with. My experience with this software and hardware is high, been doing this so long it's a part of my life and marriage:). Could not fly In real life so I got Into simming , started with one Mac computer (5613 ) Started flying using a Macitosh and found it limited in flying resorses , and started building PC,s. That's when one monitor went to two , three then four then five. In reality I'm really running a eight monitor set up running three networked computers and networked software. In fact I have been using several monitors when 98 was the operating system. Microsoft flightsim taught me a ton about computers and video cards , enough to get me to school and get my A+ and N+ in computers. This was after all the years of building computers to get my credintuals , and found that experience wins out. My problem with FSX it seems alive and fluid , as the computing world got more and more advanced the more fsx gets worst. Three or fours years ago the same set up I had little problems and absolutely no lock up well maybe a few but no where near the problem I'm having today . Perhaps going back to FS9 is a good try as to get rid of this having a computer pushed to 4.6 and beyond to get it run . Here is my Set up. Computer 1. 3770k@ 4.5 , W7, 64, ult , gtx 285 , 3 Tera hd , 8 gig 1866 ram, FSX accellated , g boost, Rex, opus fsx , wideview, widetraffic, fsuipc , level d, Computer 2. 2660k @ 4.2 , W7 64 ult, gtx 9800 , 1 Tera hd. 4 gig, level d , Rex, Opusfdx, Computer 3. 3400 amd@ 2.6 , w7 64 ult , onboard graphics , radar contact , flightsim commander, fsbuild . Been networking our awhile . I may have to revamp my set up but as far as FSX I'm out of magic tricks and patience , Thought about Prepard3d but from what I'm reading its not a upgrade from my vantage point And besides I have enough headaches for free. At this moment not for sure where to go , use to know which direction to go , have none this time. After all the tweaking and following directions to to the letter a half million times, and reloading and reloading and reloading and more reloading and tons of fixes , it ain't getting better in fact it's causing me to rethink my abilities. As far as my hardware it's in good order . My system with the 3770k I even delidded the CPU to get lower heat temps and I did it with temps at full load thru prime 95 and Occt. Temps at full load for 4 or more hours never got above 59 or 60c at full load . After reloading Fsx from scratch for the billionth time with all fixings there was not guarantee that it would run , might run at the beginning but would deteriorate in the end. And now this problem with the views now has me baffled , never have I seen that one. So now I'm looking at my set up having not a clue in which direction to go other than reloading everything including the operating system. I even ran FSX without no add ons just vanilla and that view problem came up , it worked one time. But my love for this sim , I will reload everything from scratch and hope I get it right so that I can get in a flight or two before it starts to fail. Or go to just one screen and one computer and maybe one add on and sacrifice all just to enjoy flying. You Folks are a great help to me and thank for hearing me vent ..........Robert

This cannot be happening
Well folks this is just about the end of the line for me and FSX. I'm going to have to find a new hobby after about twenty three + years. I cannot believe that fsx has gotten worst than better after all the advancement in computers. I cannot believe this new problem I'm having , and I'm stuck and cannot go forward , I don't have the will or patients to fix this. My problem now is that when I open fsx to play and try to open my views to move around on my screens they won't open where you can see them they are there they are just invisible. I only get the front main view . This is a whole new problem and it is a game stopper, in fact I have reloaded Fsx several times . I have the gold addition , and after loading the fsx gold it will work one time as to openi g a view in windowed or full mode. After that no more opening a view , you can open a view but you cannot see it. This is a major game changer as I cannot correct this problem. I'm running 5 Monitors with [email protected], w7 64 ult, 285 vid,. I truly cannot believe this is happening , I'm at a lost for words on why this is happening , more and more goes wrong as time goes on with Fsx. So what is the solution for this fix if there is one. I'm at a complete stand still at this point. Thanks again for your help....................twenty year flyer Robert

Hello folks glad to be back in the Crash to Desktop , didn't want to feel left out. I must tell you I followed every direction to get my system up and running , and I finally did it , I think. Im running W7 64 ult, 3770k @ 4.6 , 285 gtx vid,8 gig , three tera. did everything that paul recommended in his article on software and hardware guide. I must say that all is well except im back to lock ups and such . All I did was that I know of was to increase the mgh from 4.5 to 4.6 ghz and that was when it decided to crash after a full load up of fsx. I know I should have done that before I loaded fsx but I could not help myself:) Cant believe im at 4.6 and at this moment im running OCCT to stress the system so far so good after 4 hours , So im wondering why FSX stopps working. Here is my appcrash , maybe there is something im missing. CPU , GPU matching
Hello folks I'm wondering how you match up a CPU and a GPU. I'm running a 3770k @3.6mhg, and at the moment I'm using my old card a gtx 285 1gig mem. I see a few shimmers here and there but not all the time,?its a good card. I'm planning on getting a up to date card and I read the great hardware and software guide by Paul J. He made a statement saying that your vid card should be as hot as your CPU , I'm not fully understanding what he means. Are you saying that the speed of my CPU @ 4.6 that the GPU should be running at that speed. Can you give me a measurement of what you mean. Since I'm going out to get the best vid card that I can find I'm going to overclock my 285 to its max. Core speed on a 285 can go up to 700 or more , at least that is what I'm herding, So can you give me the correct terminology in selecting a new vid card. I believe if I overclock my 285 I will get better results, do you good folks agree. Thanks............Robert

So Dang tired
Sorry folks but I have just about had it with FSX and its CTDs , and all the other stuff you have to deal with this program, . it has been nothing but a problem since it came out. I cannot enjoy this Software like I did in the past , why all of a sudden am I having so much problems . its as if FSX does not work as the software advances . As more time goes by FSX gets worst , not better . IM tired of all the things you have to do to run a piece of software. IM a 58 years old with a background in computers and this is not the way software is suppose to work. Just think about it you have a CTD just for FSX , what's that about , you have a forum for FSX just for crashes to desktop, and there all about tweaks and software to add to make FSX run Better , after 6 or more years, this is not enjoying FSX , I have more experience in tweaking than flying. You even have a program that shows all of the errors of FSX and , and you can look at the list and determine what is going wrong. I thought when you have a software failure you look in Manage and see what is going on, I cannot even get a good answer for what the problem is. I know when im in this forum im going to get shot down for saying these things , but I don't care I have been building and running flight Sims since they came out. been doing this for 25+ years. And FSX is the uttermost worst user unfriendly software ever that I have ever used , and at the same time I love it. I have all generations of FSX , I even framed the old CD,S and put them on a wall. That's how much I love this Microsoft flight sim. Please forgive me gentleman for ranting im due. So what am I going to do again First I will tell you my system. Com 1= 3770k @ 4.5 , 8 gigs 1800 9.9.9.24, MSI Z77A-G45 MB, GTX 285 PNY 1024 mem, three 18" monitors , 1 24"mon. , and 1 17" touch monitor. W7 64 , with all updates , sp1. FSX , REX , TRAFFIX X, UT, FSSCENE, OPUSFSX, A2A, FSUIPC. I have updated all net frame and such and all that is needed , even did the vista ullcore thing and put it in the FsX folder. Everybody has fixes but not for sure I know fixes. It works today but not tomorrow , it works tomorrow but not today. So im going to reload windows again , and put in all the updates , im going to make sure I have all the latest and greatest updates. And when im done with that Just where do I go from there. So what I need is what and how do I load FSX to work correctly with all of the tweaks that you folks seem to use that is working. Do I have to go through all the tweaks that that is proscribed in some forums including this one. Don't mind doing that if it works , going thru to see what is running in the background and all that. this takes hours , and a whole lot of headaches , and then when you finally get FSX up and running you get this heart breaking crash. So My Good folks before you shut me out of here tell me what course to take before you Ban me. Im well versed in getting around the computer , but as to getting FSX running correctly I have FAILED. This is not against you or anyone that is tring to help me, im just fed up with all the work I must do again to see where I went wrong. In fact you are doing a great job in helping and thank you. Thank YOU .............Robert

Hello folks I sure hope you can help me , I have been dealing with this network problem for a month now. I have four computers networked together , all in the same workgroup. As far as I know all drives have been shared and secured. To prove this I can go from one computer too the next which I could do, I could go from 1 com and get files and send them to another no problems. But it wont stay that way , now all of a sudden I cannot get into this one computer files ,it says I need a username and password. Don’t know why I never gave it one . I finally manage to get into the files , found some security issues like making sure that Everyone has full control, I saw that it was unchecked again, so I checked them again and a few other spots to make sure, did a restart. For some reason I could get back into all computers files, was happy with myself , I could now proceed with simming. Walked away to get something to eat , come back to check files again and there it was again I need a user name and password for the same computer. So I checked the sharing and security and all was well on all coms ,but I still cannot get into this one computer. Well after a couple more hours I was able to get into said computer. Checked to see if all coms were good to go , they were not now I cannot get into another computer , and now I can get into the one that was causing problems. So I went to bed and got up the next morning , and guess what im now locked out again of the original com , and can get into the other one now. What the heck is going on…..what am I doing wrong. 1. network discovery on 2 print sharing on 3, password 0ff Even was told to go into registry and do some things. What’s…..going on folks ……….thanks……Robert

Well hello folks im back and i must tell you i like this software. how ever i do have a few other questions if i may ask. 1. i got the opus to start automatically when fsx starts , does this also start the client or do i have to start it. 2. after im all set up and ready to fly and i take off i notice this lagging in the opus client even though im getting 30 t0 40 fps on the clients, its not like its trying to keep up its more like it skips along and not smooth like the main server, is that normal. 3. i cannot complete a flight without fsx crashing in the middle of me taking off or im about 20.000 ft in the air it crashes the whole system. when i turn opus off on the client i can complete a flight , also if im on the gorund and just let the engines run for about 30 minutes 0r more no crashes what so ever , its just in the air when it crashes the system. Im sure im close to getting this opus tweaked , im so close . Thanks.............Robert .

My friend i assure you i know Fsx im just trying to get a grasp on your software , i have been running a 8+ monitore set up for about 8 years back when i was running FS9. Getting views is not my problem i can get another computer to handle the right views , the main problem is that im in a apartment until my home gets repaierd, will be for about 11 months. i have minimal power to run all four coms and 8 monitors and a laptop in one room , so i had to split up my resourses and run elec cordss around my apartment. Wife turned on a portable heater and well you know. So while im ramblin thats the reason for two views on one monitor, its a matter of available hook ups. My home is well supplied for my hobby. So Cheryl is correct one in windowed mode and right in full mode. But i will tell you this after i got it working , im now scramblin to figure out again what triggered me to get locked out again from my client , im now getting user name password. somthing is triggering this to happen when i use or save a camera view. And i assure you i have properly saved all files . Once i get this software in sync , i still thinks its worth its money. Thanks..........Again I will leave you folks alone im sure you have anawered enough of my questions..............Robert

Well im back again and im still getting this software up and running had a few probs but it working pretty good im running a 9 monitor set up with 4 coms netted toghether. the 4th com with two monitors is the one i decided to add opus as a client for views. i know its possible and i have been reading , i want to run two views with one computer. the extreme laft view and the right view. As im setting up my client left view thru the server config, i add a new camera and put in -90 then hit enter i have my left view then i save it. But how do i make a right view, how do i open a new window other than hitting the left bracket to open a window. when i hit the left bracket to open a window and then click on it to create a new view nothing happens it will change the one window only. i can hit shift right arrow and then i can create my right view and undock it and move it over , but that way opus not control it. So how can i safely run two views in full mode on a single client machine , i know it can be done i just a little lost. But as for everything else this opus is turning out to be a good product. i have all files shared and secured . Thanks...Robert

"Unable to transfer camera configuration data across to system <client_name>" message
Thanks for the help and yes I have done all that and then some , As I said my server can now access the client computer and all folders. What happens is when I open opus the problem comes back and I have to secure the drive folder all over again. Plus getting the error. What I decided to do a dump and load of opus on both machines and I will load them again . As for sharing folders and securing I assure you I have done all those things , in fact right now it is working flawlessly , I can get to all systems through the server both ways , up and down . So im going to load opus and put them on both machines and I will put them in the c drive in its own folder. So I will be letting you know……….Thanks…………………….Robert

"Unable to transfer camera configuration data across to system <client_name>" message
Well folks i have tried just about everything to get this error from coming back. I did everything you asked. i unistalled opus and reinstalled it on the c drive in its own folder , when i did that the error went away. i was then able to save cameras views. But for somereason its back again and i cannot access the client thru the server pc no more , i can access the client thru other client pc's but from ther server. How can that happen i can get in but now i cannort. Here is my set up computer 1 THERMALTAKE-PC 4.2 ghz , 2600k cpu 8 gig ram hd 1 = 360 gigs on c drive / opusfsx hd 2 = 1 terra on f Drive is FSX vid GTX 285 Running 5 monitors , three of them attached to tripleh2go. the remaing two use for instrument control. Computer 2 Savage1 AMD 3400+ 2.20ghz hd 1 = 150 gig on c drive in its own folder is opusfsx. hd 2 = 150 gig on e drive is where FSX is . GT 630 vid card running three monitors from this unit , trying to acheive left view and right view from just one client , and i did ,it was working pretty good. After you gave me the proper way to put opusfsx on the c drive outside of the progams folder , no more error. Well its back again i cannot get into the client without it asking me for a network password. (and by the way what is the password i never gave it one). As far as sharing and security i believe i have done all that can be secured and shared on both machines. please tell what else is there to share. i have both drives on both machines shared , and all folders within shared and secured. which folder are we taling about that needs to be shared , maybe im overlooking somthing. i have read all of your documents on stand alone and networking and live cam etc. One thing that puzzles me is that i have FSX up and running in windowed mode and i have the FSXserver up and running , and i have the client machine up and running and im getting a green lite saying im connect to the server from the client pc. yet when i click on the network and try to open the client pc i need a frickin password. At this point im sort of lost on where to go from here . Please help .............Robert
