Mr.midnight

Never ending

Recommended Posts

Hello folks glad to be back in the Crash to Desktop , didn't want to feel left out.

I must tell you I followed every direction to get my system up and running , and I finally did it , I think.

Im running W7 64 ult, 3770k @ 4.6 , 285 gtx vid,8 gig , three tera.

did everything that paul recommended in his article on software and hardware guide.

I must say that all is well except im back to lock ups and such .

All I did was that I know of was to increase the mgh from 4.5 to 4.6 ghz and that was when it decided to crash after a full load up of fsx.

I know I should have done that before I loaded fsx but I could not help myself:)

Cant believe im at 4.6 and at this moment im running OCCT to stress the system so far so good after 4 hours , So im wondering why FSX stopps working.

Here is my appcrash , maybe there is something im missing.

Thanks Robert

There are a lot of possible causes for the terrain.dll crash.  I just did a Google search for terrain.dll fsx crash and I saw a lot of possible solutions from all over the flight sim community.  There's just too many cause for me to post here.

Microsoft Visuals - Your Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 program is completely out of date. Here's the latest - http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=26347. When FSX and FSX addons run, they look for a certain version of MS Visuals. Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 is completely out of date too. Here's the latest - http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=26368. And, just in case the 2010 version is out-of-date (no indications it loaded), here's the latest version of that very important program (believe PMDG is using the 2010 version) - http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=26999.

Microsoft.net - you should check to make sure you have the proper versions of Microsoft.net. These are installed when you install FSX or a fsx addon but they could be corrupted or missing. You need versions 1.1 thru the latest installed. You can see quickly what versions are installed on your computer by looking in C:\Windows\Microsoft.net\framework\then the versions (must be the 32 bit versions). To verify they are installed properly you can go to the following link and use the verification tool there - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx. Microsoft.net is used by developers to make sure their product works as intended including managing memory for the application.

Jim

FSX is a 32 bit application and you were able to install in on your 64 bit OS.  The same theory applies for any other 32 bit program.  If it will not allow you to install the program, then it must already be on your system and that tool gave you wrong info.  You do not need 1.0.  Version 1.1 was installed when you installed FSX/Acceleration or SP2.  The other versions were installed by Addon Developers.  For instance I know Orbx/FTX products needs version 3.5.  Microsoft Windows will not allow you to install a version if it "sees" it already on your system.

Jim

Thanks for the reply and your correct , I figured out that I don't need 1.0.

Got everything loaded , also I have a question about Uiatomationcore.dll, is the one recommended unregistered do I have to do any thing other than putting it in the FSX folder.

Thanks..............Robert

All you need to do is place the Vista version (make sure it is the right one), in the main fsx folder.  As you can see here in this forum, it does not prevent crashes as most people who post their crash reports here show that they had the uiautomationcore.dll in their main fsx folder.  So, if you are looking for a magic bullet, you won't find it.  It supposedly fixes repeated hits at the FSX menu and that's it.  The AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide located in the Content Tab in the menu above provides a link to the correct version.

Best regards,

Jim
