August 23, 200421 yr >I use FS Panel Studio. It's payware, but more than worth its>money! I don't have an url ready, but Google will point you>the right way.>>Have fun!>>Jaap Verduijn.Yep, indeedy! I use it also and I've never had any problems with it as long as I keep away from certain gauges files (which shall remain nameless). I like it better than the Abacus program which I also bought. :D
August 23, 200421 yr Thanks guys, that look pretty good. I may go for it.In the meantime, though, where's the editor for 2004?One thing I've been trying to find is a visual reference guide - does anyone know if one exists?thxAndrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
August 23, 200421 yr Those "certain gauges", for me are included with "certain planes" from a top payware company. Their panels are so well protected that it is a pain to modify them even slightly. FSPS has allowed me to make major mods to many freeware planes, and to add the small personal touch (say, a fuel calculator to a popup panel, or a "GPS Source Switch") to payware planes. Those "certain planes", though very good ones, have been left behind as I discovered more user-friendly offerings. So: If I had it to do over again, I would not load up on all of those "certain planes" (well, it WAS my birthday and Christmas...). It was, however, pre-FSPS for me, and I was frustrated at not being able to make small changes to eliminate small annoyances. I was even more frustrated to find out, after buying FSPS, that I still could not make minor mods to the panels in those otherwise world-class planes. I should have done what I do now: Buy one plane from a company and see how it works. Then, get them one at a time.FS Panel Studio is fun on a lot of levels. I am glad I have it.
August 23, 200421 yr You can download and install the FSEdit_SDK but its panel editing capabilities is limited.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
August 23, 200421 yr Andrew,The basic 'free' system for editing your panels is 'notepad'. Can be a little tedious, but once you get used to it.. not too bad.Click on the panel.cfg file and select 'open' or 'open with', then select 'notepad'.The gauges are installed by using coordinates as to where it will be seen on the screen.1st Number = How far in from the left edge of the screen ?2nd Number = How far down from the top edge of the screen ?3rd Number = How large do you want the gauge to be ?SAVEHow do you know how far or how big ? Generally you don't, it's trial and error, but you will get the hang of it.This is just the basics. There are many different ways to configure gauges as to whether they are visible all the time, or pop up when you click a switch or key. Way too much detail to put in this reply, but there are some good tutorials out there on panel editing.IMPORTANT !!! It is very easy to really screw up a panel, so back up your original first, and try, try again.Maybe you knew all this already, but if not, there it is.Cheers,Bob
August 23, 200421 yr Thanks everyone.I think the FS Panel may be the way to go. I like to see what I'm working on ;)cheersAndrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
August 24, 200421 yr back in the days of fs2000 there used to be a freeware "cut-n-paste" panel software. Where basically you could cut and paste guages into it more like a paint program and the guages would work. Forgetting the name of the program..something like quick panel or quick gauge or something....can anybody please jog my memory
August 24, 200421 yr 'CFGEdit' is the freeware editor I believe you refer to....itworks ok in FS9 too. It doesn't always recognise all the FS9 guages in that it can display them, but it will allow you to use them. It's fairly simple WYSIWYG editor and will easily allow small mods to most panels, and add/swap-out guages.
August 24, 200421 yr yes yes! cfgedit. nice program!! Thanks for jogging my memory kinda gettig senile.
