February 7, 201313 yr I run FSX with REX, UTX, GEX, etc.. and in doing so I've noticed that night lighting is a bit "large" in spots. I made the brightness change to the lowest (25%) in UTX.. i also applied these changes to the fsx.cfg: RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.35 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.25 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.35 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.35 Despite this, I end up with large squares as below: The full res is at this link for reference (5760x1200) http://tech-stew.com...ioDeJaneiro.jpg (it doesnt look so bad if you view the full res image in a smaller window, but stretched out over 3, 24" screens the squares dont feel realistic to me) Any idea what else I could try tweaking to get them down in size a tad. Incidentally, this shot is using TileProxy as one layer of the FSX cake Thanks in advance Asus Strix z790-e; 1000 watt evga SuperNova Plat; 14900k AC_LL 0.55 adp -0.050 253/253/355 CEPoff (CB-1pass 39200 80c, msfs peak 92,avg 60-78c, astrorender 95c,room76F); 64GB(dual 32) cl32 6400 at 6400 xmpII F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK, Asus Ryuo III 360mm; Thermaltake v51 Case; Gigabyte 4090 OC; VR-Crystal; Dofreality H6; Astrosite
February 7, 201313 yr Are you using a Matrox Triplehead setup, or any other triple-monitor solution? If so, that can be one reason the lights appear oversized, and requires a different approach to resolve. Either way, what you probably want is a replacement "halo.bmp". You can download one from Avsim, or if you have REX, you can try some of the ones they offer. OR, ORBX has a light tweaking tool in (I think) the FTX Central application where you can not only specify the style of light, but also the scale of the lights. Very useful tool, I recommend checking it out if you have any ORBX products. EDIT: Just realized based on the resolution you posted below the pic, you are using a triple-screen setup. You can try what I said above. Also, look for a file in the Avsim library called "th2go_new_lights". I think I'm using that currently, with the following settings: RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.7 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.5 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.8 RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.4 Good luck. Thanks for that tip.. ill try that file.. yeah i'm use eyefinity with 3 screens (24's) You mentioned rex.. I looked through my rex essentials interface but didnt see any light size settings.. or was this something you get from their support site perhaps.. which then is a better solution, avsim file or rex change. I do also have ftx central (orbx) set to NA mode.. not sure if that would affect the lighting, this one was in south america too. I did not select ftx night mode before launching though, or tweak anything with orbx /ftx. EDIT: i did search for that file above, but for some reason it came up empty but did find fsx_lights.zip dated 2010..
