February 8, 201313 yr Two comets to look forward to this year. 1. Comet Pan-starrs will pass by Earth in early March. If we're lucky on March 12th and 13th the comet may be visible with the naked eye. To keep this aviation related, my wife snapped this shot of me in my Cessna. 2. Comet ISON (discovered on September 21th, 2012) which will pass Earth on December 26th, 2013 (at distance of 39.6 million miles) and could shine as bright as the full moon during the day. It should start to become visible to the naked eye by late October or early November. This one should be good. Anyone remember Comet Hale Bopp back in 1997? RJ
