How can I fly only with Real world weather?

Featured Replies

I have two questions:

1-In New beta there are three selections, none of them give RW weather selections. I tried first one high altitude flying, now every time I restart AS2012 , High Altitude Flying dominates the AS2012.

How can I choose only flying with Real World weather ?

2-If I only utilize AS Whether engine and select other texture/graphics add ons namely REX . Can I correlate REX with AS Whether Engine and How can I activate two systems work together?

Thanks

The three options simply change "how" the weather data is applied such as how much it is smoothed when it changes as you fly through changing conditions.

No matter which of the start up options you choose, by default AS begins applying current real weather data. If you do not wish to use current real weather, you may go to the "Historical" tab and select real weather from previous dates and times.

Finally, you can use the Edit Weather tab to apply a weather pattern of your own design.

To use REX with AS 2012, pick and install REX textures as you wish, then in AS 2012 you can save the current REX installation under a "Snapshot". AS2012 gives you the ability to load these gfx snapshots at any time later to recall those texture choices whenever you want.

Please read over the AS2012 manual again with this understanding and hopefully it will be clearer.

Happy flying

What's the predominant kind of flying your interested in? AS2012 has those options to accomodate different levels of flight while emplying real world weather regardless (unless as Clark states, you select historical weather). Since I often fly large turbojets at high altitudes, I use the Direct Weather Smoothing option with the Local Station Writes enabled. This gives me accurate winds aloft as well as good depiction of local weather conditions on the ground as defined by METARs. I am often flying at FL340 and can look ahead 40-60 miles and see local weather coming up.....very cool.

Thanks Rudi and Clark for your informative responses.

Most of my fly are over FL300. I checked DWS with Local Stations Writes. I assume Metars captures by AS2012 according my flight plan route and AS2012 weather engine pulls the weather graphics/clouds formations from library to match weather conditions as described in Metars into screen. This is an on going precess until I clicked FS "Off" at arrival gate.

1- I don't see AS2012 on screen weather injections information.

2- Low level IFR conditions continues over FL300 , In RW this almost never happens

3-Clouds formation most of time same combination with Full Detail Clouds and Simple flat clouds.

4-If I load REX Textures/Graphics in to FSX or P3D. Can AS2012 connect to REX library and match Metar weather data?

Up Date : I already tried REX, but AS2012 is not calling REX. May be I am doing some thing wrong.

Ahmet, I can't help with some of those issues and would suggest that you seek answers at the offical support forum here: http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/forum.php . Damien and company are responsive and helpful.

Hmmm, I do see AS2012 weather injection according to the frequency I picked and have not experienced low level IFR conditions during high altitude flight. Are you sure there's no other weather program running and that "user selected" is the current weather option within FSX?

AS2012 will only call textures from within the FSX textures folder, I believe, whether those are provided by AS2012, REX, FEX, or any other sources.

Agreed. What you describe indicates AS2012 is not connected to FSX. At the top of the AS2012 app, make sure FSX status is "Connected" whenever FSX is running. Start AS2012 first, then start FSX. Within a minute of being on the Free Flight tab, you should see the weather setting automatically change to "User Defined" - this is the signal from AS2012. If you can't get this to happen, you should go to HiFi's forum for more help.

AS2012 cannot bring the REX library into its dynamic graphics generator. The AS2012 textures have additional flags associated with them that inform AS2012 under what weather conditions to select them. I don't believe you can add those flags to external graphics files like REX.

Thanks for your detail information. Unfortunately, getting some misreactions with REX and AS2012 combination. Until some solution find. I will fly with P3D default weather engine.
