August 25, 200421 yr I have been trying to get acceptable FPS after installing Flight Ontario Scenery. On my system, with stock MS FS9 scenery and Traffic, I lock FPS at 20 and it's more-or-less at the max (20 FPS) with scenery and traffic sliders pretty well full right. When I installed The Flight-Ontario "Toronto" Scenery, the FPS jump all over the map, from as low as 1.0 all the way up to 20. Not so much "stuttering", as simply "jerking-all-over", and totally unusable. It turns out that the only culprit seems to be Traffic. Anything over like 8 percent Traffic, and FPS goes berserk, EVEN WITH Visibiliy and Scenery sliders full LEFT, and "no weather". But with Traffic set at zero, the FPS rarely come down from the 20 FPS peg, even with complex weather, and visibility and scenery sliders full RIGHT.I do not particularly need fancy AI Traffic, and the stock MS version was suiting me fine.... but it does not look like I can use it with the Toronto Scenery unless someone has a tweak that I missed. Thanks in advance.Art
August 30, 200421 yr was some landclass/waterclass memory leak, no? delete an empty texture folder or something like that... search the forum :-)and while you're at it, get an updated afcad for cytz. the original has runways reversed
August 30, 200421 yr What is the specs on the system you are rumming FS9 on.I run FS9 on a P4 1.8 gig with 1024 RD ram.40 gig HD and the ASUS TI 4600 128 mb video card.I get around 20 FPS around the city. The scenery was created and tested on as low as a P3 833 mhzsystem .The Landclass problem was corrected by seperating the Landclass bgl,s and the Waterclass bgls into 2 seperate folders.Ill pas your problem on once I know what your working with.Al
August 30, 200421 yr Our Greater Toronto Addon Patch fixes the reversed runwaysDirect link below:http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Loca...=ftp&DLID=48370http://www.asic.ca/flightontario/jimlogo.gif
August 30, 200421 yr I'm confused. You say the following:>But with Traffic set at zero, the FPS rarely come down from the 20 FPS peg, even with complex weather, and visibility and scenery sliders full RIGHT.So leave the traffic at zero. Is there something wrong with 20 FPS?Did you follow the updated instructions on our webpage?http://www.asic.ca/flightontariohttp://www.asic.ca/flightontario/jimlogo.gif
August 30, 200421 yr um, lol...some folks might not consider having to turn the traffic to 0% to be a suitable fix for an issue. :)
September 20, 200421 yr >What is the specs on the system you are rumming FS9 on.>...Sorry I did not get back for so long, but real life got in the way and I have have not been here for a while. My system is AMD 2200+ which corresponds pretty close to your 1.8gHz Pentium.1 GB memory, 120GB disk, ASUS TI4200 128 mb video. No 3rd party addons (other than Flight Ontario scenery). The symptom is just this wild fluctuation in FPS when traffic is enabled together with the FLight Ontario scenery. With traffic set to zero percent, everything remains pegged at 20FPS, but any traffic above about 10% starts the fluctuation in FPS all over the map from 20 down to single digits...and I mean second by second changes... the FPS display will go like:20 8 15 3 16 19 20 5 11 ... etc., changing every single second.... and the changes are real... it shows up in the jerkiness.Even if I sit absolutely still on, say, the Buttonville apron, the FPS fluctuates like that, (normal 2D panel view staring at an unmoving landscape). The interesting thing is that when traffic actually taxied across my view, the FPS continued to peg up to 20 frequently..... so the problem does not appear to be the EXISTENCE of traffic per se.... it seems to be that the POTENTIAL for traffic, as expressed in the slider percentage, is what is causing the problem.Removing virus scanning improved things only slightly in that the drops to the low single digits are now more like the mid single digits, but there was no difference in the overall pattern. When I uncheck the Flight Ontario scenery in the library, I can put the traffic slider to 100% with no degradation in FPS...Frustrating and annoying, but there it is.... great scenery... or traffic... choose one :-). September 20, 200421 yr Agreed, this add-on is fantastic and very close to how it really looks, but I had to get rid of it due to the flucuation in FPS as described above.XP Home SP2Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 2x512MBGeForce FX 5700 256MB (56.72)SB AudigyMSFF2 & X45 throttleSee you in the fence...CYYZ Al Stiff
September 20, 200421 yr I would suggest trying the scenery again once the patch is released.http://www.asic.ca/flightontario/jimlogo.gif
