August 29, 200421 yr Hello All,I guess I should know this, but I can't, for the life of me, to get FS9 to call my Fed Ex aircraft, by name . . . I hear it call other Fed Ex aircraft, but it will never identify mine with 'Fed Ex', starting to bug me just a tad. I thought I knew how it was done, but perhaps I don't. Anyone care to enlighten me? One of my few complaints on FS. Best to all, Clayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"
August 29, 200421 yr Hi Clay,I'm pretty sure I've heard the callsign before when flying. I just looked in my Captain Sim 727-100 folder (where I've got a Fed Ex paint) and the atc_id is "FEDEX" -- you might try it without the space if you haven't already. Just a thought.thx,
August 29, 200421 yr Thanks Bill,at this point, LOL....I'll try almost anything, and will do so and let you know.ThanksClay
August 29, 200421 yr Hello Again,Well, that doesn't do it. OK guys, all you FS9 experts out there, need some help on this one. Tell me how to make FS say 'FedEX'.ATC calls other FE aircraft all the time, so I know it's capable.Clay
August 29, 200421 yr I had a similar problem with the Captain Sim. Fedex 727. If you have a CS 727, I used the 727TCE to change the "airline callsign" to: Fed Ex. That is, I made sure there is a space in there. "Fedex" would NOT work. After changing "airline callsign", make sure you press the "A Edit Variation" button to save the changes.
August 29, 200421 yr I guess desperate situations call for desperate attempts :-)In your cfg file make sure you have the flightsim numbers correct. In other words no duplicates like two {fltsim.x}. Maybe the fed ex is a duplicate so its not being recognized. (Had to use {} because the sqaure brackets dont show up in the message..guess its for coding)Also make sure the ATC name is followed after the = sign without any space..=FED EX Wild shots :-)
August 29, 200421 yr Hello All,Well, the above worked . . . and I'm a happy camper. Can't say enough good about our hobby and how we help each other out.Everyone have a great weekend!BestClay
August 29, 200421 yr Can you let us know what actually worked for future reference and users?thanksBill
August 29, 200421 yr Bill,What worked was putting in the aircraft.config =Fed Ex, (with a space) and making sure if it was on an aircraft like the CS 727 to have it that way in TCE also.Secondly, when you bring up the aircraft in FS, make sure the callsign also has the space . . . as without the space, (FedEx) you will get nothing but the numbers.Again, thanks all, I would have thought I could have figured that one out, but guess what . . . never tried it that way . . .duh!Daddy always told me to do it by the numbers . . .really appreciate the overlooked space.BestClay
