Hello, I am trying to run squawkbox 4 over a network using simconnect. I have followed the guide that I found on the SB forums. I have followed this guide on 2 different machines and I am receiving the same error on both.

Here is what my Installation Looks like:

FSX Computer:

Windows 7 Pro Full Updates

FSX standard with Acceleration Pack

FSX SDK from deluxe CD installed then SP1A installed

FSX installed in: E:\Flight Simulator\FSX

Squawkbox installed in: E:\Flight Simulator\SquawkBox

SDK Installed in E:\Flight Simulator\SDK

Full Permssions to Everyone in Mydocuments\Flight Simulator Files, Appdata\roaming\microsoft\fsx folder, and fsx folder

SB Computer

All installations have default install directories

SDK from Deluxe cd installed then SP1A installed

SB4 installed with Simconnect installation in the end

Both Computers have static IP addresses on the network and Simconnect.xml file and Simconnect.cfg file have the addresses changed to match the IP address of the FSX system.

I went to run aitraffic.exe from the Networked computer and i receive the side by side configuration error.I did have FSX running on my main system at the time.

Now Im thinking that the fsx system might have a newer version of simconnect running on it and the simconnect version that was installed by SB4 might be older? I am not sure what to do with this situation? I am unable to find much on this topic related directly to SB4. Thank you for any help!

About the only thing you can do is completely reinstall simconnect. It took a couple of installs for it to work correctly for me. Here's the correct procedure for installing - http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_(FSX). Believe you left out the SP2 or Acceleration install (depends on whether you have SP2 or Acceleration installed).

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim, thanks for your reply. I have just reinstalled windows on the laptop which is the client and I am still getting issue. (I didnt reinstall windows just to see if simconnect would work, it was a failing hard drive) Either way, I do have acceleration installed on my fsx machine and on the web site for the sdk sp2 it specifically says not to install it if you are running fsx sp2. I checked my add/remove programs and I had multiple simconnect versions installed. Well I uninstalled them without doing an image of my machine first and now I am having issues with pmdg and leveld (not sure if they are related with simconnect or not) So I made sure to have same versions of simconnect both on fsx and client machines, I made sure all of my my folders were given full permissions and all of the necessary files are in their correct places. Everything checked out fine. But I am still unable to run AItraffic.exe on the client with the same exact issue. When I try to reinstall simconnect on the fsx machine it doesnt seem to go through all of the install a window pops up I see a blue bar then it dissapears. I am going to follow the instructions in the link you provided. Ill post here with the results. I cant wait to fly on vatsim again, I miss it.. Thanks for your reply!

Got it! Thanks Jim! Problem was that I was using wrong SP's for the SDK. Apparently the downloadable one does not have all the necessary components and there is a special SP2 from the acceleration CD that also had to be installed. I can finally run squawkbox!

Glad you got it fixed Kacper. There are a lot of people, including me, who didn't get it working the first time.

Best regards,

Jim
