March 5, 201313 yr Im running a GTX480 and Windows 7 64bit on a widescreen 21 inch monitor. Out of the blue i have been unable to even start FSX. When i press the icon it changes the screen resolution to the minumum possible and states that i need to change it above 1080 x ?. But i cant change it because the windows are so massive. if I right click on the desktop and change the resolution back to 1980x1020 (or whatever it is), it just goes back to normal resolution and the game doesnt start. Any ideas?
March 5, 201313 yr You can go into the FSX.cfg and look at what display setting you have. It should look something like the following: [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0] Mode=2560x1600x32 Make sure this is 32 and not 16. Anisotropic=1 AntiAlias=1 You can delete these lines in your FSX.cfg and, when FSX restarts they will be rebuilt. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 5, 201313 yr Author Tried that. Still does the same thing. When i go back to where the FSX.cfg file is, it hasn't regenerated the lines deleted, and it has tried to make another fsx.cfg which has nothing in it. any more ideas?
March 5, 201313 yr any more ideas? Look in your config for more entries of your display and delete them all. Sometimes there are several with different resolutions. For instance, I have four display lines but I have two monitors and also have DX10 Preview enabled. Your issue is very strange and I have never heard of FSX not starting up because you have a wrong resolution on your monitor. I have a feeling you edited the wrong fsx.cfg. If FSX doesn't start up for some reason, it makes another fsx.cfg.txt (a text file). Make sure you are editing the fsx.cfg. Another thing you can try is to reenter the display setting manually by using my example posted above. Just change the name of your GPU and resolution. The resolution should be what is posted in your display driver settings. If that doesn't work, then, you will have to delete your current config, restart FSX, and the config will be rebuilt.
