September 3, 200421 yr Hi all,I am hopeful someone here may be be able to help me with a frustrating problem...I am running FS2004 on a 3.2Ghz/HT/2MB RAM..., and when thesim is running with framrates *unlimited*, it is incrediblysmooth. However, if I attempt to limit the frame rates, even by one FPS below the average, frequent stutters all of a sudden occur.I have to limit the frame rates due to the requirements ofnetworked software that requires access to FS2004, so I amdesperate for a solution...any ideas? Thanks.Cary Green
September 3, 200421 yr sorry Cary, I don't have the answer for you, but just thought I'd attach my query to yours as I think they might be somewhat related.I have just gone over to 1600x1200 resolution and think it's great, my medal of honor runs OK like that,as does call of duty etc, but yet FS9 doesn't seem to like it, yet I have heard of others that have said it's OK to run it at that resolution, typical flight in a PSS A340, S/Box weather with Chris Wills Clouds, the fixed auto gen file, with auto gen set to med, mesh to 85%, and dynamic scenery to 3/4 of the way to the right, same with most of the sliders etc, and yet it seems jumpy / stuttery, with frames locked or without.this is strange.Steve.
September 4, 200421 yr Hi, I had the same problems you have. I'm running on a p4 2.5ghz with a gforce 5900. I'm running a 19 inch flat screen NEC monitor. I changed the resolution to 1152/864 and a refresh rate of 85 and I've been getting a smooth ride with no stutters on graphics or on atc. Most sliders with exception of clouds are up there pretty close to max. So my recommendatin is to run through the resolutions and refresh rates and see what it does for you.Capt.Mac
September 4, 200421 yr Author What videocard do you have? Also, what monitor?Try playing around with the VSync settings. For example, set refreshrate to 70 hz, framerate limit to 35 FPS and Vsync On.Or, if you already have Vsync on, try turning it off.Make sure anti-aliasing inside FS2004 is set to off. Select your prefered anti-aliasing mode using the videocard control panel instead. Also, try moving the Water Effects slider to Low. -
