no approach available on G1000 ...!

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a problem with the G1000. I never approach available, whereas with fmc (wilco airbus boeing or PMDG) I've got it.

Can you help me?

thank you,

Unlike some of the systems you mentioned that are updated through Navigraph, the Carenado G1000 uses the FSX nav database.  There are approaches of all types available depending on the airport you're flying to, but the nav data including the approaches is very old - 7 years old, to be exact.

Which aircraft and airport where you flight planning for?   What information made you choose your approach?

With the Carenado G1000, you can't manually build a flight plan the same way you can with PMDG, etc..  Here is the procedure for building a short flight plan that includes an approach:

- Select "Direct To" then enter your destination and select "ACTIVATE"

- Select "PROC" on the FMS

- Go through the data entries on the right-hand side for the runway, approach  type and transition.

- Select "LOAD" or "ACTIVATE".

- If you selected "LOAD", make sure you "ACTIVATE" the approach before you get to your Initial Approach Fix (IAF).  I believe the system will squawk at you with an advisory if you have not activated the approach when you reach the IAF.

There are a couple of things you need to know if you're looking at current approach plates and/or maps and you can't find a certain approach.  The NAVTEQ nav data was fielded with FSX in 2006/2007.  That was a very long time ago when you consider all of the changes since then in the aviation navigation data world.  It's even more outdated when you consider WAAS and other aviation navigation programs.

If you wish - reply with exactly what you were trying to do - where you were getting the approach you wanted to fly - and why you couldn't load it.  I really can't go further without more information from you.

You can use Plan G software to flight plan with approaches more easily than using the FSX flight planner.  But, you're still stuck using the old FSX nav data without any updates.  I personally prefer Version 2 of Plan G instead of Version 3.  Regardless, both programs use the same FSX nav data.

You can download Plan G here  http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ .

Cheers,

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your quick response.

To plan my IFR, I use FSCOMMANDER. I think it's a great tool. I do not know PlanG (except by name), but I think FSCOMMANDER backup all the flight plan except SID and STAR.

Getting back to my problem, I did the test with several airports and every time I have the same problem. When I'm on the "PROC" in "OPTIONS" I can only select "SELECT APPROACH" (which seems normal), but in "LOADED" I only have APPROACH "NONE" ...

I hope that these two airports which are internationals for many years are in the database NAV FSX ... ;-)

Maybe I've forgotten to do something to initialize the installation?

Thank you for your help,

Sincerely,

Bruno.

Hello,

no idea for my problem ?

thank you,

Bruno

Bruno,

"I have a problem with the G1000. I never approach available,"

Which aircraft are you using?

Start FSX.

Use FSX default Baron G1000.

Do a short flight plan using FSX flight planner High Altitude plan.

Can you select Procedure/approach and have it appear now in the flight plan?

Vaughan (or Martell ...), I do not know if I should refer to Stevie Rey ... or not! ;-)

Thank you for your help.

After handling with the default FSX plane B58, everything is OK.

Still surprising that there have not LFKJ approach. but everything is OK for the rest.

Thank you again,

Sincerely,

Bruno
