FSX Saratoga won't climb
Unless someone has created a fix for this, you're probably experiencing the old Carb Heat problem that has affected FSX for years. Your symptoms sure sound like it. Press the "H" key as part of your climbout checklist - preferably as soon as possible after take off. The colder the weather, the sooner you need to engage the heater. This affects all aircraft except t-props and jets. Yes- even those fuel injected aircraft like yours (?) without carbs... Hence the statement that this is a problem..

3D Knobs
I don't have my 850 loaded at this time, but all of the Carenado 3d knobs I've used can be rotated by placing the mouse cursor on the knob and holding down the right or left mouse button depending on the direction you want to turn it. Mark

Condition Lever Problem - Not Caused by the Q400
Pretty neat idea. I've been living with it using the mouse, but that's clumsy - especially reducing the levers in flight. Over-shooting to the Start/Feather position when dropping to 850 can make things pretty sporty... Thanks - please let me know how that works out for you. Mark

Condition Lever Problem - Not Caused by the Q400
Hello, Thanks for reading this - first off, and to make a VERY long story short, my Condition Levers don't work on the Q400 and the PMDG J4100. They work properly on all three of the payware King Airs. Secondly, Majestic Software did a great job trying to support me even after we determined this wasn't their problem. So, my hats off to them for that effort. All of the common causes of this type problem - running Control Panel without FSX on or running it without the Q400 selected, etc., etc. are not the cause. In fact, this issue is so odd that a complete reinstall of FSX didn't correct the problem... Before you think I'm completely nuts, I was reinstalling FSX to reconfigure it - not because of the Condition Levers. The levers work correctly in the Saitek Properties window via Device Manager. They also calibrate properly in FSUIPC. They move whenever I use the Ctrl+F3 or 4 FSX controls (don't remember which is the mixture assignment). The only time they don't work is when I try to move them with the Saitek throttle quads. The input numbers for those levers do not change in the Q400 Control Panel when I move the Saitek levers. They do change when I use the FSX Ctrl commands. It began when I was trying different numerical settings in the Q400 Control Panel for the throttle and condition levers. Without any obvious cause, the Condition Levers stopped reacting to my inputs from the Saitek Throttle Quads. I just thought before I resign myself to controlling the Condition Levers with the mouse (very clumsy) that I would see if there is a Windows genius (or a 12-year old that always makes old men like me look stupid ) with an answer. This is an odd one - I was convinced the FSX reinstall would fix it, but no luck. I've had help from some very experienced simmers - both in and outside of the Majestic company. I have swapped the throttle quads physically via connections and assignments, so I'm convinced the problem is in the OS. Thanks! Mark

Throttle problem
I had the same issue - long story short - I have two Saitek Cessna Throttle Quads. An old assignment of the mixture 1 lever "switch" or "full down" position was assigned to "Throttle Decr Increments" or something similar to that. Whenever that lever was in that full down position, the actual throttle assignments reacted accordingly by reducing. I deleted the old assignment which corrected the problem. If you follow what the previous writer suggested and make sure there aren't any old FSUIPC assignments, you should clear this fault. Let folks know if your efforts were successful or not, OK? Mark

I would suggest uninstall/reinstal first. If that fails, submit a formal ticket to Carenado through their support website. It's on the main website - you have to log in to submit a ticket. Mark

M20J cannot get above 20 inches manifold pressure
I don't mean to insult your intelligence, so forgive me asking - did you try applying Carb Heat "H" key regardless of temperature and regardless if the aircraft is fuel injected or not? That's one of the goofy characteristics of this problem - FI aircraft are also affected despite lacking a carburetor :wacko: . It's affected virtually all piston aircraft - Carenado included. If you haven't, try pressing "H" during climb out. I press it when I retract flaps, but that just my way. You're in good shape as long as you press it early in your climb out. Mark

I just entered "530" into the C90 section search function in the Unofficial Carenado forum in AVSIM a few minutes ago. It returned 17 results covering RXP 530 use and associated issues in the C90. Trying that may help.

Unlike some of the systems you mentioned that are updated through Navigraph, the Carenado G1000 uses the FSX nav database. There are approaches of all types available depending on the airport you're flying to, but the nav data including the approaches is very old - 7 years old, to be exact. Which aircraft and airport where you flight planning for? What information made you choose your approach? With the Carenado G1000, you can't manually build a flight plan the same way you can with PMDG, etc.. Here is the procedure for building a short flight plan that includes an approach: - Select "Direct To" then enter your destination and select "ACTIVATE" - Select "PROC" on the FMS - Go through the data entries on the right-hand side for the runway, approach type and transition. - Select "LOAD" or "ACTIVATE". - If you selected "LOAD", make sure you "ACTIVATE" the approach before you get to your Initial Approach Fix (IAF). I believe the system will squawk at you with an advisory if you have not activated the approach when you reach the IAF. There are a couple of things you need to know if you're looking at current approach plates and/or maps and you can't find a certain approach. The NAVTEQ nav data was fielded with FSX in 2006/2007. That was a very long time ago when you consider all of the changes since then in the aviation navigation data world. It's even more outdated when you consider WAAS and other aviation navigation programs. If you wish - reply with exactly what you were trying to do - where you were getting the approach you wanted to fly - and why you couldn't load it. I really can't go further without more information from you. You can use Plan G software to flight plan with approaches more easily than using the FSX flight planner. But, you're still stuck using the old FSX nav data without any updates. I personally prefer Version 2 of Plan G instead of Version 3. Regardless, both programs use the same FSX nav data. Setting REX Ess OD for Use With Opus
Hi All, I also enjoy flying Opus and Rex Ess OD together, but I was curious - how are most simmers setting the REX ESS OD Configuration Manager for use with Opus? I've disabled all of the REX Weather Engine settings which seems to provide the proper operations. That may be all that is needed - I'm just curious if other folks are setting these differently. I've researched the FAQ written for Opus http://forum.avsim.net/topic/396956-faq/ and the Opus and REX websites. So far, I haven't seen anything specifically on the REX Config Mgr "General Weather Engine" settngs. I'm not really concerned about the Winds, Clouds, or the other Config Mgr. settings since they affect the texture type and quality. Thanks for any info, Mark

rxp gns 430
There is a utility - an executable that installs the RXP 430 for those who own one. My suggestion is to reinstall it. Since Carenados are so easy to install, uninstall then reinstall the aircraft. That would return the RXP 430 executable to the C90 folder. If you try a shortcut by having someone send you the executable, you may find out something else is missing which would delay you even further. If your RXP430 is missing, chances are something else is too. Back up any customization files for that aircraft (aircraft.cfg, etc.) Uninstall - Reinstall would take 5-8 minutes tops. Make sure you have your Carenado purchase serial number ready to go. Good luck, Mark

Breathe new life into Carenado's aircraft
Thanks for the info, sir. I had also grown tired of the sound set after only a flight or two. The repetitive loop was really short on this aircraft. I swapped the sound folder out with aircraft that had similar turbocharged engines - that solved the issue for me (used the Carenado B58 Baron), but your option sounds pretty cool and will be more accurate. Just wanted to say thanks for posting it. Mark

Original 340 Original Engine Specs from First Carenado Model
Hi All, If anyone has them, I'd like to get a copy of the aircraft.cfg "General Engine Data" and the "Piston Engine" sections from the original 1974 engine in the Carenado C340 that the RAM Conversion mod by Ritz55 corrected. I can't find them from Cessna nor are they in any of the current installation files from Carenado. I guess Carenado incorporated them into the 340's aircraft.cfg as part of an update. Yesterday, I compared my C340 aircraft.cfg file to the same specs in a new installation of the C340. I hoped to obtain them that way instead of pestering anyone on AVSIM, but I had no luck. The specs in "new" and "old" data sections are identical. I'd greatly appreciate a copy of the original 285 (?) HP engine specifications contained in the aircraft.cfg. Those two sections are all I need. I'm working on an engine project to determine power differences needed vs. weight and this is the best example I can find if I can get the original data. I have almost every Carenado aircraft for quite a while and I've never seen that happen. However, since it's so easy to reinstall their aircraft - get your purchase number and reinstall it. You want to do that first especially if the problem is only happening on this aircraft and not on any other. Be sure to backup whatever you think is needed first. That would be my suggestion. Troubleshooting is fun IMHO, but Carenado's aircraft are so easy and quick to install, troubleshooting isn't necessary unless reinstallation didn't correct the problem. Good luck

I meant to pose the question on two levels - one for Android mobile and another for PC. Regardless, thanks for what you all provided. I'll wait for SkyVector to see what they provide in both Mobile and PC worlds. I'll try GMap for now on the mobile device. This is all for FSX in the US including Alaska and Canadian Rockies. I'm an Orbx groupie, I guess - following them wherever they go. Spinal problems keep me out of the real world cockpits. Thanks, Mark

Request for Android App Info - For FSX
Hi All, If it's available, I'm looking for a moving map that uses the current US FAA charts instead of Google or a proprietary map like Plan-G. My "ideal" program would be SkyVector.com with a moving map. I know it doesn't have a MM function - it's a great website without MM - it would be fantastic with one. Those folks using SkyVector.com are familiar with what I'm looking for. I don't know if an app exists that uses VFR and Enroute charts or not. I've used FalconView when I was in the military, but I no longer have access to the charts it requires. I hope the SkyVector developer incorporates moving map in the future, but in the interim, I'd like to find an Android App as described above. I just bought the Samsung Galaxy III that I'd like to use for moving map/flight plan display functions. Thanks for any help you can provide. Mark
