Setting REX Ess OD for Use With Opus

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I also enjoy flying Opus and Rex Ess OD together, but I was curious - how are most simmers setting the REX ESS OD Configuration Manager for use with Opus?

I've disabled all of the REX Weather Engine settings which seems to provide the proper operations. That may be all that is needed - I'm just curious if other folks are setting these differently.

I've researched the FAQ written for Opus http://forum.avsim.net/topic/396956-faq/ and the Opus and REX websites. So far, I haven't seen anything specifically on the REX Config Mgr "General Weather Engine" settngs. I'm not really concerned about the Winds, Clouds, or the other Config Mgr. settings since they affect the texture type and quality.

Thanks for any info,

Mark

Once you have installed your textures you don't need to run Rex again, only if you want to install different textures. Just make sure you have disabled the weather engine and the visibility, haze and fog effects effects since they have been known to cause problems with horizontal 'bands' of haze.

Fantastic - thanks! Is that written anywhere in Opus documentation? If I missed it, I apologize for not finding the answer myself...

Thanks very much!

I don't think there is anything specific about the configuration of using REX with OPUS in the official documentation. But it is available and has been discussed here on the forum.

Rather than make a new thread, Ill post here and hope for a response. I just bought Opus to use with REX. Just wondering what about the wind and cloud options in Rex and if I need to disable them. Thanks in advance.

No need to configure anything in REX, just don't run REX at all. The above quoted recommendation was just to ensure problematic textures weren't installed. OpusFSX makes use of your installed texture files, whatever they are.

I've just downloaded Rex (took over two hours) currently half price in the AVSIM sale.

The textures work perfectly with Opus and are a major improvement on what Opus was doing with the standard FSX textures.

No question of replacing Opus - just a great enhancement for Opus fans in my opinion.

The FEX soft and naturals also work a treat, and many users like the free HDEv2 cloud textures.
