Didn't you say "I'm not much on eye candy but systems modelling is very important."? The Youtube reviews and tutorials demnstrate clearly the nature of the interiors and yes they are a little old. As G suggested you really should try to fly this beast. It is a challenge and once your cruising at 45.000 feet the exterior views are excellent. Assuming you followed the previous advice to buy from Eaglesoft / Flight1 you can still get your refund in 29 days. Let us know how you get on.

If you read the forums (which you may not have accessed yet) they recommend switching off WD and all antivirus while downloading and installing.

Active Sky 16 is a great start. Instead of Ezdoc I'd try free trial of Aivlasofts Simplecam. No shakes but it's simple and inexpensive. Whilst the Airbus is good and the checklist function is useful my problem with this advice is your budget. Can you afford Airbus and the PMDG 737 - because eventually you'll want that! On scenery enhancement you probably want to look at ORBX FTX Global unless you plan to only fly in one of their 'full' areas Enjoy.

Some have experienced a CTD after take off and selecting Direct To. It's got a thread in their support forum. IMHO it is not a problem. One solution I use is to reload the Citation twice. Many other threads to read and one current favourite is Flysimware Learjet 35. Citation X from Eaglesoft is a beautiful sleek aircraft with complex FMC. Can be a little frustrating and users are currently waiting for a small P3D fix.

Don't know about Air Hauler but I find the Milviz Baron B55 really nice and it has GTN 750 and weather radar built in - if you have them.

Migration tool allows you to install programs not designed for P3D 3.x. Some don't like it but I've never had a problem. Example - Carenado PC12 which is still P3D 2. I'd redownload the ORBX installers and instal as normal. Enjoy.

As stated above P3D now has extra facilities. More important P3D is still under development. In three years time FSX will still be FSX. Not one line of computer code will be different. P3D may well be 4.4! ASN was adapted throughout its life to cover major changes in P3D. It saw me through P3D 2.1 through 2.5. Then 3.1 through to 3.3. No additional charges and (from memory) Hifi were always one of the first developers to update their software to cope with whatever LM threw at us.

If you only bought ASN last year then this 'upgrade' isn't cheap! Not moaning it's just at this price the upgrade needs justifying rather than a lower price would have been an instant buy.

I've read the 'blurb' and seen the prices. I've seen that the textures will not be on a free trial - disappointing but understandable. This creates a dilemma because it is not cheap. The original plan would have been to download free trial of both at 2001z (or whenever). Now it needs thinking about. I dislike the Rex textures system so tend to set it once and leave it 6 months I love ASN but if it's not broke why should I pay so much to upgrade it? If I purchase ASCA and have it working in ASN I assume I'm going to see similar to my Rex - although I note some textures have been criticised and no doubt you will develop further. However (assuming I've purchased ASCA) what are the practical key differences I will SEE if I then if I add the trial ASC2016? What are the top two or three things I should be looking for to make me see the difference (and in my P3D 3.3 case) spend €37 plus VAT? Thanks.

Although my hanger is pretty full I bought the B55 yesterday as it was on 35% sale. First impressions are excellent. The sounds are really good - especially clicks and engines - quite emotive. The guages are outstanding in particular the fact you can vary lighting in them from 0 to 100%. This is a bonus for someone working on a laptop computer who on many aircraft has to zoom in to read some of the dials! VERY happy with my purchase so far.

Don't forget. When you've installed this and updated with Carenado's SP1 you MUST install the pack of user mods from AVSIM forum - I think it's version 1.18. Simple download, copy and paste job that sort many of the remaining bugs out Then, if you have them add the GTN750 and Rolands (free) weather radar and it becomes a really great addon. Dean

Eaglesoft Citation X is absolutely gorgeous from the outside with winglets. FMC is as complex as it gets. Inside panels are a little dated but it handles brilliantly. I have the Mustang - whilst I might take that for a circuit I'd pick the Citation every time for a trip. This aircraft is still actively supported in an owners forum by the developers. Dean

Personally I prefer to buy direct from this creator. Updates come regularly and I think there have been delays with them getting to other sites previously. Nothing against JF. Just my opinion. Oh! Its just come up 50% discount on Simmarket! Scratch my advice unless flysimware are matching that

Hi I just reverted to 3.2 after trying 3.3. Works great in Orbx Socal. I haven't re-installed FTX Global yet. FTX Central seems to be up to date. However, I took a trip (out of the region) to KLAS and there I have Airfield Elevation problems (like you can get with Orbx Vector). BUT I don't have Orbx Vector installed on my computer! Can anyone please suggest how to fix this please? Thanks Dean

I upgraded to 3.3 and have spent a few days using it flying around SOCAL. It worked fine with my addons but I can't say I noticed any significant differences On reading this thread (especially the loss of UK2000 airfields) I have uninstalled 3.3. I love P3D and fortunately I have a 3.2 archive / download ready to install tomorrow Progress is great but it's nice to know the 'cons' as well as the 'pros' when offered an upgrade.

UK TV star Carol Vorderman is planning a round the world solo flight for charity in a DA42. Channel 4 TV are making a 3 part programme following her adventure. Looking forward to that and hopefully following her route in this really nice aircraft.

I'm no expert and have lower spec than you. I fly all the time in Socal and find it VERY acceptable with reduced settings. Autogen reduced to nil has a massive difference in FPS. Scenery complexity around the middle is also quite acceptable. Hopefully this will help. Dean

I have had several of these great laptops but unfortunately the batteries don't tend to last forever especially if you're using it mobile most of the time. The simplest solution is to buy new battery online in my experience.

Worked fine for me. Presumably you've moved it above ORBX Socal if you have that installed.
