March 12, 201313 yr I am looking at getting 3 plasmas for my setup. I was told today the a plasma will use WAY more GPU resources than a LED. His comment was the LED was only 120Hz and the plasma 600Hz so about 5 times the GPU load. Any validity to this statement? They are both roughly 42" 1080P 1920x1080. Thanks

March 12, 201313 yr Author You are right. 1920x1080 is all the same correct?? That is what my research showed.
March 12, 201313 yr ..maybe more load on the GPU, but I switched from 42" LED to Plasma, much better ...
March 12, 201313 yr It doesn't matter what the output frame rate of the display is (that is processed via the displays built in processing), it's the input rate to the display from the GPU that warrants the load on the GPU. For example if the GPU is using a refresh rate of 60hz then both of those TV's above will put exactly the same load on the GPU, assuming the pixel count/resolution was the same on both TV's. The TV's may be outputting 120 and 600 hz respectively but it will make zero difference to the load put on the GPU, the processing to covert it to 120 and 600hz is done by the TV's internal processor. Cheers, Andy.
