Reset Default ATC?

Featured Replies

EDIT:  Sorry guys.  Didn't search thoroughly enough the first time.  I found the answer.

Hey guys - I enjoy creating a cross-country VFR GPS flightplan with many waypoint airports using the default MS flightplan tool and then flying that plan using a GA a/c.

Typically, I will land at one of the waypoint facilities using the default ATC for the required clearances all the way to parking.  Before I shut FSX down I will save my flight at that point so I can continue my journey the next time I have an opportunity to do so.

I have not found a good way to reset the default ATC so I can restart the a/c and request the necessary clearance to taxi to the active and then receive clearance to takeoff and continue my journey.

I do not want to have to amend the original flightplan but I can't seem to find a way to let the default ATC know I've restarted my a/c and wish to continue.

When I'm ready to continue and load my saved flight the default ATC is still at the point of having given me taxi instructions.  I must start the a/c, taxi out to the active and takeoff without ATC guidance.  Once off the ground the default ATC tells me I did not have clearance to takeoff and discontinues ATC service.  At that point I am able to request flight following and continue on to my next destination.

Is there a way to reset the default ATC once I'm parked at one of these waypoint facilities?  I would appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks!

John

Hi John,

You will have to make another IFR flightplan from the new waypoint to the original destination of the first flight plan and load that new flight plan.  I believe that's the way it is in real life too.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the response.  I appreciate your getting back to me.  I'm sure you are correct about having to make a new IFR flight plan from the new waypoint to the original destination.  I was concerned more with a VFR plan.  I searched this forum and found a possible solution although I have not yet tried it.  It involves going to World/Map and changing your heading one degree after you are parked.  As nearly as I can tell reading the thread I found, this action serves to reset the default ATC function.  The next time i'm in this situation I will try this and see if it truly does work.
