September 10, 200421 yr Whenever I fly in NE British Columbia (SE of Watson Lake) my FS screen goes black and freezes up. I have disabled all add on terrain mesh and scenery, but it still happens. I'm thinking a corrupted or missing bgl file (although this is a wildly uninformed kind of guess).Any ideas out there as to cause and fix? Im thinking of reinstalling the Namw scenery file (assuming everything is there for that location).Informed suggestions or warnings about my "solution" would be greatly appreciated.
September 10, 200421 yr <<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>Disabled all add-ons or only those add-ons applicable to NE B.C.? A conflict can come from anywhere in the FS world, such as an Afcad file for a spot nowhere near B.C. or even in Canada, necessarily. If this is a fairly recent problem, any add-on installed recently would be the most likely start point.
September 10, 200421 yr Hi Steve, I had a problem like that caused by a bad afcad. The crashes only happened after I opened the FS GPS. If I never opened the GPS window, the crash never happened. If that's true for you, it could be an acad causing the problem.
September 10, 200421 yr Go chase some recent AFCAD files, they are a common source of CTD's (crash to desktop), you can check whether they are fault free with the AFCAD program and also make sure there are no duplicate entries in different folders. Do a search for CTD's on the forums there is a wealth of information thereNigelVancouver
September 10, 200421 yr Here's what I did - disabled all recent add ons and reinstalled Namw/scenery file. So far so good.
September 10, 200421 yr How many sceneries do you have in your scenery.cfg file? In FS2002, the limit was somewhere around 310-315, which includes all the hundred-plus sceneries which come with the out-of-the-box product.I ran over this limit (in FS2002) and one of the consequences was a freezup (infinite loop, actually) which I first found in central India, and then again in Albuquerque, NM.I read in another post that the FS9 might be significantly lower. This limit is somewhat fuzzy, because there is nothing in FS to keep you from going over it, and the possible problems are very weird and different.
