March 18, 201313 yr More problems! I have EZCA v1.17 in Windows 8 Pro. I have installed the Angle of Attack Camera Set, that have a good pre-configured view to fly the NGX. I can't swith between cameras, even in the EZCA studio or key assignements via EZCA ... Why? :( José Fco. March 22, 201313 yr Hi Jose, I have given up with using EZDOK in W8. It is too unstable and I'm bored of it's ageing idiosyncrasies (even in FSX) and a litle bored of waiting for V2 (it's a bit like waiting for V2 of P3d imo - no offense to Marniftarr - it is a superb proggy, which I love - just a little dated now Tbh, having removed it from my W8 box and gaining c. 4-5 fps over heavy scenery, I thought I'd test it a bit, and I installed it on another W7 machine, with and without it running, and you know what? I think we have become so accustomed to having it around, we have forgotten its shortcomings..It is an FPS eater - and the way it uses memory is incompatible with W8 - it uses DMA, which is kinda old school these days - it was throwing program errors every time I switched cameras with it (but kept running - errors only in event viewer) Don't get me wrong, I was/am still (a bit) an EZDOK junkie, but after installing a combo of OpusFX and Accufeel 2.0 (well done A2A!) I can live without both EZDOK AND REXE/ASE2012 (still use for textures and routes weather) I am now getting a hard 30FPS pretty much everywhere, whereas with both REXE/ASE and EZDOK running, it robbed me of smooth at heavy airports and scenery when I had even a little weather around..I am a little shocked tbh, as I've always asumed it was my setup (and never tested without EZDOK) Try uninstaling it on W8, then see if yor frames go up. If they do, go and buy Accufeel and try out the demo of OpusFSX Live camera (bit of a head spin but if you can setup EZDOK you are way clever enough to set up LC in OpusFSX - much much better camera databse management) And I am so sticking with Windows 8. I have now installed all of my best payware sceneries and planes, and Windows is just much more stable running FSX than W7 was/is..I am doing SbS testing of large payware (FSDT KLAX for one) and W8 just seems to handle juddering and stuttering better (cue the placebo posts - not interested in anyone elses subjective appraisal of W8 thanks - mine works, FSX hasn't crashed once in nearly three weeks  ) Anyway, ymmv, and just my 2p worth best jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

March 22, 201313 yr Hey Jose, They are very good. Not as detailed (and by turn easier to understand and configure) as EZDOK, but every bit as convicning in heavy turbulence - in fact, I'd go so far as to say that the turbulence effects are better than EZCA and don't induce micro-stutters, as EZDOK does. I'm usoing in conjunction with AccuFeel V2, which has its own turbulence effects..Together they rock. A feature I particularly like is the camera database..One can apply the same cam (and DHM/DAM settings) to all planes, only a selection or a particular type of AC..This feature alone has saved me literally hours of configuration..The view database is genius.. I know EZCA V2 will be absolutely correct with regard to motion physics, momentum, friction etc, but you know what? I'm flying a gaming sim. It compares so tenuously to flying a real aircraft anyway, that missing some of Newton's theorem whilst I have a smooth flight in my man cave won't lose me any sleep... It is also in active development as we speak; there seems to be updates planned to the camera system (which can actually be used to send views across your network to another FSX machine for "remote viewing" of any views you have configured.I haven't got that far into it yet, as it requires I set up FSX totally the same on a seperate machine, which means another four days building it, which I cba to do at the mo.) All that having been said, when (if?) EZCA V2 comes out, I shall be ponying up with my cash near the front of the queue..heh best jake p.s I don't work for OpusFSX - just an enthusiastic new user LOL JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

March 22, 201313 yr Author And it's a good idea to install Accu-feel v2 to fly with the NGX? It doesn't disturb to Opus Live Camera? José Fco. March 22, 201313 yr Hey Jose, I'll try and sort some pics over the weekend; I can't promise anything, though..Kids may prevent it! In fact, it is the cam database that "lacks" good documentation (there are docs, just not obvious to the uninitiated - but there are better instructions than EZCA lol) Setting up the DHM movemnts is so easy it's not true.. AFAIK, AccuFeel works with any FSX plane, as it adds to the sims' physics, not the planes effects..it operates at FSX' code level, not quite in the same way as a "standard" addon, perhaps. I'm not sure you'd see a huge benefit using AccuFeel with NGX, as it is really aimed at GA, but head over to the NGX forum and ask the question..I said above I'd installed all my addons, but I've yet to fly NGX since re-installing, as I'm loving GA again, what with Shade and SweetFX and OpusFSX' weather... best jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

March 23, 201313 yr Author I've setup my cams! It's easy to do. And it works very good. But I think it doesn't smooth as EZCA moving in the VC with TrackIR Now I have doubts about how to setup weather. Need to mark any forecast options? José Fco. March 23, 201313 yr +1 on Quadra's comments on EZDok and Win8...it's a mess. Re-installed it last night, configured it, then took off for a long flight in the NGX. As the flight progressed, more and more bits of the NGX cockpit disappeared (landing gear handle, knobs, etc.). I managed to complete the flight, but wow, the event log was jam packed with almost second by second errors out of EZDok. Uninstalled EZDok and flew the same route again in the NGX...no problems, no disappearing stuff...and very smooth. Scott Burns

May 1, 201313 yr The only problem I have had with EZDOK and Win8, is I need to manually start ezdok after I launch FSX. No auto start for me, dispite trying all the suggested fixes. I have Opus, however I could never get used to it's camera UI and gave up. Cheers
