I just came across a pretty good offer for the PMDG 737 NGX (49Euro) in a large electronics store nearby.

Since I wanted to purchase the 737 anyway, I bought this boxed version.

I also like boxed more than downloads (just as I like CDs better than iTunes :-) )

 

I have not unwrapped the box yet (so I can return it) because a question about updating this boxed version came to mind.

 

I dont know what version this 737NGX is (cause box is still sealed)

Since this an Aerosoft box, do I get updates (service packs) via Aerosoft or can I get them direct from PMDG?

 

Does anyone foresee a support problem with this box?

I can still return it and go for the download, direct from PMDG!

Ok, I have dropped the question at Aerosoft as well.

 

I am a little confused because there are several updates available from PMDG.

 

737 -800/900 NGX Base Package sp1C

737-800/900 Service Update 1

737-800/900 Model Update

 

Which one of those would be important for my boxed version?

If I know that, I can then ask Aerosoft more specifically if they offer that update.

As far as I remember the Aerosoft box is up to date.

 

You can still download the base package SP1c from PMDG and try to update with that anyway: Either it'll tell you it can't update or it simply will do so. No issues to be expected.

I also have the boxed version.

You only have to download sp1c from pmdg website.

The other 2 updates are for the fs9 737

Oliver you were right, the Box is up to date with sp1c.

You can find out what version you have in the FMC (CDU) under "About"
