wind & temp aloft at very high FL

Recommended Posts

Hi,

With AS2012, how can I get real winds and temps at FL 550 or 600 ? those FLs were typical for Concorde at the time she was flying.

As the maximum FL seems to be 490, is there a way to extrapolate current wind and temp at FL490 to get them available at FL600 ? Do I need to import into AS2012 my Concorde FPL with a targeted FL=600, to get that kind of data ?

Thanks

The data will be there. You just can't see it on an AS screen. HiFi worked on this many moons ago.

"Hi,
I'm currently using a registered version (4.86) of FSUIPC with AS2012 SP2.
Flying with Concorde_X (FSLabs) at M2.02 and FL 580 with a targeted FL600, AS temps are available (-72°C = delta ISA -15) and AS winds are also available but with a null speed 344/0 kts ?
Is that due to the max FL490 available in AS ? I've got an active FPL FAOR-FMEE currently running within AS with FL600 as my planned altitude.

Thanks for taking into consideration. Best regards"

"Hi Jean,
We are aware of an issue with FSUIPC and the "Wind Smoothing" option which prevents winds from being depicted above FL520. Peter Dowson (FSUIPC Author) has been made aware of this but he is on vacation at the moment. We hope to have him look at this very soon.

Thanks Damian.

Just hope Peter Dowson will fix the issue asap.

I can confirm that at least in the LM P3D platform with which I do not use FSUIPC, the winds / temps are available up to those higher levels.
