March 22, 201313 yr Im on a budget, and cant go to the heights of a 2500K or 3570K. My FSX will entail only PMDG aircrafts,REX and GEX. No addon airports. Also in my FSX settings I dont need all sliders to be maxed, just want it to look decent, so I guess that is where REX, GEX and ENB should fit in. One major area for me also is the time in which textures take to sharpen. In my current 1045T, it takes 35seconds from looking like mud to becoming sharp. That really needs to improve for me. I also wont be using DX10. So my question is which should I get? Intel Core i5 3350p Intel Core i5 3470 Intel Core i3 3220 AMD FX 8350 Thanks Jonathon James
March 22, 201313 yr In the UK you can get 2500Ks for not much more money that 3550s (£172 vs £164) might be different where you are but try shopping around, the extra performance of an overclocked 2500K would be well worth it.
March 22, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the response. My only option is amazon or newegg, its $220 for the 2500k/3570k and $180 for the 3350p. Say perhaps if I get the 3350 how many fps can I expect with the PMDG 737 and a default airport? Also, how fast will texture sharpening be? Jonathon James
March 22, 201313 yr Check out Ebay. I'm in the UK and managed to get a whole system bit by bit with no used parts, only oem and ex display for about £200 less then list price. Just don't scrimp on cooling so you can overclock.

March 22, 201313 yr Author Well I have a weak PSU (Omega 750W 33A on the +12V rail) and tried it with my 1045T but it wasnt successful as the CPU kept throttling (Due to my lame mobo) I have a cooler master 212+ and 3 cases fans Jonathon James
March 22, 201313 yr Well I have a weak PSU (Omega 750W 33A on the +12V rail) and tried it with my 1045T but it wasnt successful as the CPU kept throttling (Due to my lame mobo) I have a cooler master 212+ and 3 cases fans you should be ok with that PSU + 7770 combo even if you OC. you also have a good cooler, so I would try and stretch for a 2500K / 3570K and overclock. It's only going to set you back a couple of tenners but you will really get the most out of you money. Or you could wait a bit more and go with Haswell instead (June or something) Definitely don't go the i3 or FX route with waht you got now
March 22, 201313 yr Or you could wait for the Haswell to come out. Then the Sandy and Ivy bridge prices will go down then they may be more affordable for you without giving much if anything for performance.
March 22, 201313 yr Author Hmm interesting options, thanks alot guys ill see how it goes! Jonathon James
March 22, 201313 yr Bear in mind the Haswell's main feature (with modest performance increase) is to enhance the onboard graphics as was Ivy Bridge. So if you can get a Sandy Bridge 17 K series then that would still be a good buy. Just an opinion PeterH
