March 24, 201313 yr Hello; I have a very basic question to fill a gap in something I've obviously missed. If I am doing an approach and have NAV 1 set to the ILS approach frequency and NAV 2 set to the VOR, do I need to have the EFIS switch (left switch Captain-side) set to VOR ? I always have thought that you must have the EFIS switch set to VOR when NAV 1 is set to an approach frequency - and this is what I have always done... However, I noted today that the approach glide slope was still active when I had set the EFIS switch (left switch Captain -side) to ADF 1. Can someone provide guidance. Thank you, WilloW WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
March 24, 201313 yr No you don't need to set it to App or nav I often leave it on map at all times during the flight. Hope this helps C Parker

I must have written my post oddly as I am not referring to the knob (MAP, APP, etc), but the switch (VOR/ADF) Should the switch be at VOR when NV 1 is set to an approach frequency ?? Nothing to do with autoflight or receiving radio signals. You turn it on if you want to see it on ND. Rostyslav S Wanna fly 737NGX with turbulence?
