October 17, 200421 yr SimCharts 3.0 stopped working after upgrading to XP SP2 and applying the FS9 patch. I can bring up the list of charts but can't view any charts. The behavior is the same outside of FS, so perhaps the problem is with XP SP2. I've tried removing and reinstalling SIMCharts.Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.Bruce in East Hartford, CT
October 17, 200421 yr I have had a similar problem with Jeppesen Simcharts 3.0 not wanting to open charts. I am running WindowsXP home with SP2 and FS9.1. The problem though showed up long before updating either of those programs. I am told by Jeppesen that it must be a conflict with either my RealityXP guages for FSFlightmax or both and they are not willing to look into fixing it, their advice is to remove the RealityXP and FSFlightmax :-bang. Shame since I spent more for the Jeppesen product (6 regions worth) than any other add-on and since my goal was more realism they really should have a little better customer support. What I have found is that you usually can use the product if on a fresh start of the computer, you open FS9/FS9.1 to a default 2d cockpit, and before touching ANYTHING else, open Jeppesen Simview and select a chart. This should make it work for the rest of this flight. If you minimize or have any problem that takes you out of the sim ie. Norton :-fume, a FSFlightmax error, etc. it usually stops working. It also doesn't work if you exit FS and then re-open FS for a new flight. You are forced to restart the computer. Sounds like a problem within the module or some subprogram is exiting and won't restart until a total system restart. If someone has an idea of how to fix it, please pipe up. Jeppesen has a wonderful reputation for their real world flight products, seems though that the sim side of things is more of a nuisance for them.Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
October 17, 200421 yr Thanks. It's working again now. I found I had two firewalls turned on, Windows and Norton Internet Security. I turned off the Windows firewall and rebooted. Then I turned off and on the popup windows setting for Norton. I don't know which of the above actions fixed the problem.
