Aircraft with the best flight dynamics?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! Just curious about wich aircraft do you think has the best flight dynamics (FS2004)... i think i

`Best` is that it is purely an opinion, and responding to the abilities of the equipment and the user. To judge you need to be able to say how many hours you have in real Citations, and provide full details of your hardware, including slider positions in the sim and your fps (as framerates have quite a bearing on the `feel` of an aircraft in my opinion, the difference between 20 and 30fps can be really noticeable). Often there are flight models which reflect how things `should be` in the mind of the developer, not how they actually are. They can be `on the numbers` but nothing like the real aircraft to fly.Any model with Rob Young, Streve Small or Ron Freimuth's name on it is about as close as it is possible to get. Allcott

Without the slightest doubt : The Project Tupolev Tu-154 with it's custom Joystick Input routines.Confirmed by a well experienced reviewer (with real Tu-154 experience)at a German FS magazine, who rated it the best jet in FS history. He also mentioned, for the first time it doesn't feel like flying a jet in FS, it feels like flying in a Full Flight simulator. Without the hydraulics of course :DMike

AllcotA slightly harsh response to a new member of these forums don`t you think? I guess he`s just pleased and enjoying the Citation he mentions. Give the poor guy a break.Totally agree about the Marchetti though, and the freeware Howard is a joy too..CheersLungs

hey Domingo, welcome to the boards! I would have to vote for the RFP 747-200. And not jut the flight dynamics, but the whole package...billg

Same is it always does. And you have to admit, knowing why someone thinks a model is good, and what yardstick and special skills they possess to MAKE that judgment, is helpful?Allcott

Practical and true, Allcot, but it still seems a little strong - maybe he`s got 2500 hours on type but doesn`t feel the need to prove himself. However, no one could deny the technical accuracy of your reply - the FS experience is heavily related to the user`s rig and their approach to FS.No worries - I`ve heard good things about the Eaglesoft aircraft from numerous people. I haven`t tried them myself though. I`m a sucker for either GA or 60`s jetliners. I`m not a big fan of FMC`s and automation.MikeAlpha - I`m downloading the Project Tupolev A/c now. It looks impressive, though my non-existent Russian skills will have me guessing the instrumentation. There`s a nice Tu-114 around at the moment too - what a great time we are in for freeware!CheersLungs

Lungs,>> It looks impressive, though my non-existent Russian skills will have me guessing the instrumentation. There`s a nice Tu-114 around at the moment too - what a great time we are in for freeware!Yup, the Tu-114 is another gorgeous freeware, very beautiful and aesthetical - indeed a "flying palace" But I think for flight dynamics and feel nothing will come close to the Tu-154 for quite a while. With a PFC Jetliner yoke you can even notice a delay of the hydraulic control surfaces. Takes some time to get used to it, but it is just brilliant. There's an english manual available for the Tu-154, it's available here : http://tu154.avsim.ru/docs.html.Mike

Hi MikeThanks for the url, its going straight in my bookmark list. I`m actually having a few problems with the 154 install - it appears to be missing a couple of gauges (or at least, FS encounters problems trying to start a couple of gauge files). No doubt I did something silly with winzip but I haven`t found it yet! Thanks againLungs

Well it is a question no one IMO can answer unless they have flown every single add-on and their real life counterpart and even then I would be curious to know how they say something feels right when fs has 0 feel and this is it's greatest missing feature...Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Randy,>> I would be curious to know how they say something feels rightWell, flight dynamics and getting performance tables "reproduced" is only one side of the story. The right "feel" (I probably need to put it in parentheses from now on) is another story. "Feels" right of course doesn't refer to e.g. the seat of the pants stuff you probably mean. It refers to things like : Balancing of control inputs, reaction of the plane to control input, how does the AP deal with the plane, etc., etc.An example : If a developer manages to create custom Joystick routines, that introduce a delay of the reaction of the control surfaces similar to the real plane, then the "feel" in FS in my terms gets closer to the real plane.Mike
