Thanks, Allcott and Tord!

I checked the programs but how will I know which programs to shut down? I might shut the whole system down...Tomas

Any changes made with FSAutoStart can be brouhgt back to normal simply by rebooting your system. Nothing is permanent. You can set it up that it shuts down extraneous programs and services when activated and turns them back on again when deactivated. Ken Salter provides in his program suggestions as to which services can be stopped simply by highlighting each one with the mouse and reading the suggestion off to one side. Do more than just "check the program"; read everything included. It's quite helpful.

Ok, will do! Thanks Rick!Tomas

Hi, When you run FSautostart, first tell it to "stop & restart" any services the program tells you to stop in the info box. Begin stopping only those which it states in the program to stop. Then, watch what it stops when running, for any error messages. You then exit FS9, and run FSautostart again. Change to "No Action" any service which showed an error... or that it was necessary on your system. Some items depend on what you are doing with FS9. If you dont do any printing, you can shut down spool, if you dont use real weather, you can turn off connections to the internet, etc.

It's been covered in those threads. A full list of services can be obtained fromhttp://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htmThat was why I pointed you to the threads rather than just the answer. To use FSAutostart at its best you'll need more information than the help file provides as blacviper enables you to examine your specific machine and see what needs be done on your box. Then use FS Autostart to close them before launching FS and you have a failsafe - if something doesn't work you haven't deleted or amended it, FS Autostart wil just start it all back up again when you shut the sim and you can revise the settings. Worse case is that you reboot. If you start disabling servies in Ctrl+Alt+Del youll have to remember them - and where they are located on your hard drive - to re-start them again, although you can always re-boot there as well.Allcott
