March 30, 201313 yr Hello, I just updated my graphics card to a GTX 660, and if I run a game like Dead Space 3 I'm running at 120+ FPS. Yet on FSX with a PMDG 737NGX I'm running 7-10FPS at airports and 30-45fps while in sky flying, thing is I have an in game monitor and it never seems to use more than 45 to 50% of the cards power. I have never messed with my CFG file or anything of the short, any help would be greatly appriciated. Computer stats as follows: AMD Phenom II X4 910 2.6Ghz, 8 gig of RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and a GTX 660 with a 32" 1080p HDTV and a 17" Monitor, I'll try and post some screen shots as well.
March 30, 201313 yr Author Here are some screen shots note when I start at the airport I'm running 10-20 FPS, then while in the air I get anywhere from 30-45 sometimes even over 50 FPS. Once I start approaching the airport my rates drop again, also I notice that my card is only asking for 15-20% power while at the airports and on the ground, and only 45% when flying yet Dead Space and Sim City 5 and Train Simulator are asking for 59-99% almost all the time? again any help is much appriciated.
March 30, 201313 yr fsx is cpu intensive, not gpu , cpu 4,0 mhz and up i7 4777k 4.6mhz, 32gddr3, GTX 760 4g sci ,Saitek x52,yoke and quadrant, 60 Led . SSD
March 31, 201313 yr AMD Phenom II X4 910 2.6Ghz There's your answer to why the GPU isn't utilised more. Your CPU is never able to feed it enough frames to start with.

April 9, 201313 yr make sure you disable the light bloom and dx10 plus turn down the ai density. and theres a website that automatically configure your .cfg file go there so that it will tweak your .cfg file. sorry i forgot the exact address Richard Avenido
April 9, 201313 yr AMD Phenom II X4 910 2.6Ghz, 8 gig of RAM Get a overpriced intel it will make fsx run a lot better I5 or I7 with k overclocked.
April 9, 201313 yr Author Get a overpriced intel it will make fsx run a lot better I5 or I7 with k overclocked. But then I will have to update my motherboard as well, it is designed for a AM3 socket. I was going to put this CPU in http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727 make sure you disable the light bloom and dx10 plus turn down the ai density. and theres a website that automatically configure your .cfg file go there so that it will tweak your .cfg file. sorry i forgot the exact address Just saw this thank you I will try all of that, I know for a fact my DX10(I have Flytampa princess Julianna)is disabled, I did turn down my world of AI density, will try more and will search for the CFG website.
April 9, 201313 yr get fx 6300 95w amd. not quite a I5 or I7 speed but it will eat the 2.6 phenom 945 one for lunch and dinner. fx 6300 what you want not the fx 6100 or fx 8120 that slower single thearded. They improved fx series with the pile driver still not at level of intel i5 or i7 but it narrow somewhat. Just look at the benchmarks
April 9, 201313 yr Author did the CFG thing and this is what I got again any help: Congratulations! you already have HIGHMEMFIX set! You are running with frame rates set to unlimited, great! but MAKE SURE you use the 'external' frame rate limiter set to 'exactly' 20 FPS for optimal results. You can download it here AffinityMask not present. Adding for optimal results with your hardware. You don't have a BufferPools section!, adding optimized settings. ALLOW_SHADER_30=1 has been added to make FSX Shader 3 compatible Ground shadows kill performance, adjusting. Setting TextureMaxLoad to 30 for faster texture loading! Bloom effects are a known performance killer. Disabling. SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT has been added to your configuration to prevent blurries. Your Water resolution have been adjusted to prevent white texture flashes. SmallPartRejectRadius have been added to your config for performance Adding MAX_ASYNC_BATCHING_JOBS for improved autogen batching performance. Adjusting SOUND_LOD for improved performance when using AI sounds. Removing overlay tips to avoid graphics corruption. Your Cloud draw distance is set above 70nm, try using an external weather program to limit visibility and set your cloud draw distance 10nm UNDER this visibility for optimal horizon cloud blend. Consider removing your FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION *IF* you experience micro-stutters. You have 4 video card entries in your fsx.CFG file. That doesn't look right. MAKE SURE to disable Transparency Anti-aliasing for improved smoothness with your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 card.

Not much better than most Phenoms and definitely worse clock for clock. He could overclock to some 4GHz and get almost the same performance as a 6300 @ 4.2-4.4GHz Besides, Piledriver won't work on an AM3 mobo for all I know. I would try overclocking that 910. Other than that the only option that makes sense is to switch to Intel (I5 2500K or 3570K) did the CFG thing and this is what I got again any help: Congratulations! you already have HIGHMEMFIX set! This really confused me just for the fact that I would assume the Concorde would be more taxing or at least as taxing as the 737NGX?
April 22, 201313 yr I run a i5 3570k overclocked to 4.3, but if you can get to 4.5-5.0 I've read some posts by nickn its even better. Definitely cpu hungry...
