CTD when saving flight.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Over the past few days my head has been driven in by a new CTD I am getting even after a recent complete reinstallation of FSX and my Windows 7 64bit OS.

Whenever I attempt to save the flight while sitting at the gate at YMML, I recieve this fatal error:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
  Application Name: fsx.exe
  Application Version: 10.0.61637.0
  Application Timestamp: 46fadb14
  Fault Module Name: d3d9.dll
  Fault Module Version: 1.0.0.1
  Fault Module Timestamp: 48751493
  Exception Code: c0000005
  Exception Offset: 00006d1c
  OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID: 1033

In that area I am running REX essential w/ OD, ORBX AU, ORBX YMML, shade and the PMDG 737 NGX and also ENB
Since the module name is d3d9.dll, I have presumed that it is an ENB crash. (I desperately don't want to remove ENB I think FSX looks somewhat ugly without it)

However, I sometimes it doesn't crash when I save, but when I hit cancel or save, I recieve THIS crash:

  Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
  Application Name: fsx.exe
  Application Version: 10.0.61637.0
  Application Timestamp: 46fadb14
  Fault Module Name: d3dx9_26.dll
  Fault Module Version: 9.7.239.0
  Fault Module Timestamp: 42964b01
  Exception Code: c0000005
  Exception Offset: 000fa535
  OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID: 1033

I have tried a multitude of fixes including the Automationcore.dll fix and messing around with my ENB settings.

System Specs if neccessary:

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k; Overclocked to 4.4Ghz
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX580 Super Overclocked Edition; Overclocked to 971Mhz (stock 772Mhz)
Memory: Corsair Vengence 8GB CL9 DDR3 1600Mhz
Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
FSX runs on my SSD

Thanks for any suggestions,
Swanny

You are correct, ENB is the cause of your crashes. There isn't a "fix" for crashes caused by ENB, but some rare users of Sweetfx, for example, have found success with it without any crashes.

The ENB Module caused the crash.  There are versions or configurations that work as some here are saying that it works perfectly for them and they have never had a crash.  So I would check the FSX forum for that "perfect" configuration or version.  The second crash was caused by the d3dx9_26.dll.  This dll belongs to DirectX and use to be named D3DX9D.dll.  It is the proper version so I'm suspected the d3d9.dll is involved and causing this crash too.

The uiautomationcore.dll belongs to Microsoft.net packages.  Only a certain Vista version has fixed FSX menu crashes (repeatedly hitting the FSX menu bar).  That is the only known fix for one FSX crash.

Your system is almost exactly like mine except you have a more updated MB.  I had issues with the ENB module too and got rid of it after two weeks.  I didn't get excited about it's capabilities like you have though.  Have you tried SweetFX?  I heard this is a replacement for the ENB module.  There's a large post regarding the SweetFX on the FSX forum.  They also talk about the ENB module.

Best regards,

Jim
