frequency of commercial flying

With airfare prices going up the last couple of years, I've stopped flying as often for pleasure.  Granted, I've burned   much more cash on necessary home improvements compared to vacations.  Even short flights are expensive despite all those articles I've read about how to get the cheapest fare, they just aren't there anymore.  Of course, flying out of Newark, NJ is expensive. 

Maybe in two years when the house is paid off and home improvements somewhat done, I'll fly more.  Of course, my property taxes will be nearly equivalent to my mortgage by then.
