September 19, 200421 yr Why do I always get this in the ATC window when flying, does anybody know? I talk to the tower, take off, contact the departure frequency, but after a while the ATC window doesn't display the frequency of the new center that I'm now in like it use to, instead it just says "no messages to transmit to anyone" and below it I can select airports from a list. It use to keep allowing me to auto-tune the next center but not anymore. What happened?
September 19, 200421 yr Have you added any third party scenery files that may have replaced the global scenery files. It is possible that replacing or excluding the default files has caused ATC not to recognize where you are in the world?W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
September 19, 200421 yr I've had this, but only if ATC contacts me and I miss it (or ignore it). After a while they cancel my flight plan, or if I don't have one, just tune me out. Don't think I've ever had it happen when I've followed proper procedures, but I could be wrong...billg
September 19, 200421 yr I have installed FS genesis files and payware and freeware airplanes. AI traffic, and afcad2 files. How does the ATC recognize where I am? I don't know what files to look for so I can pull them from the CD. Thanks for the help, it is much appreciated!
September 19, 200421 yr Sounds to me like you are on a VFR flight plan and have NOT requested flight following. If you want to talk to Center, you should be asking for flight following after takeoff (from departure control). Under VFR, ATC leaves it up to your discretion as to when you want to talk to someone. You are not under ATC control under VFR rules. In teh situation you describe, select one of the airports, then you should get some menu items to use for a landing. OR, better yet, file IFR flight plans--I have never had this happen on one of those. Paul
September 19, 200421 yr I know I should be, but I actually like tuning into the centers just to hear the traffic in the background, and the ATC window would always display the current center I was in so I could auto-tune it and listen instead of asking for a flight following and having to respond everytime, or an IFR plan where I'd have to keep a certain altitude and course, I enjoyed being unrestricted yet being able to listen to the ATC but now suddenly this option has disappeared!! Hopefully somebody has an answer as to why this happened, thanks all for your help!
September 20, 200421 yr Since you have many addons, you might try copying your Flight Simulator 9 folder and renaming the copy FS2004OLD. Uninstall FS2004 through the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs menu. Use Windows Explorer to delete any residual Flight Simulator 9 folders (NOT FS2004OLD). Reinstall FS2004 to the same diskdrive location. Start FS2004, let it stabilize, and see if the problem is corrected. If so, rename the new Flight Simulator 9 folder FS2004NEW. Rename FS2004OLD to Flight Simulator 9. Restart FS2004, let it stabilize, and see if the problem reappears. If so, rename Flight Simulator 9 folder FS2004OLD, then rename FS2004NEW to Flight Simulator 9. Restart FS2004 and ensure it is working properly. If so, start moving or reinstalling your third party addons to the new installation until the problem reappears in the new installation. Remove the offending files to remove the problem.W. September 21, 200421 yr Author I think you have saved a flight as your default flight that has the FS ATC situation a bit messed up. I believe this can happen for example if you have requested taxi to the gate but never go there and change frequency. Then you only see this particular message unless you go to the assigned gate.Try to select a different flight on the start menu, not just another aircraft and see if that makes a difference.
February 24, 201412 yr I'm having the same problem. It started just after I installed Flight 360 and MegaSceneryEarth Iowa files. I did uninstall Flight 360 but still had the problem. I'm next going to uninstall the MegaSceneryEarth Iowa files and see if that might fix it.
