New X-Plane System Build

Featured Replies

Hello there, just getting into gaming and ive had a laptop fro awhile..but i need a desktop so i can do more strenuous tasks, like gaming! Any way i have came up with a couple of items to build a machine, im in a low budget...so bang fro your buck machine. Here is what i have...any thoughts> thanks

Motherboard

Sabertooth 990FX

CPU

FX-4100

GPU...?

What should i go with, for sure a PCI 3.0 and i heard that a gtc670 or gtx series is a good place to go....not looking to spend more than 200$ on a card, i figure xplane with be the only game i play that needs the best graphics...if the card  can handle xplane 10 on at least medium settings then it can probably run my other games on high...Skyrim, Battefield...etc

RAM

DDR 3, whats good? im new on ram...thanks! I'm looking for at least 6gb, 8gb if its a good deal and theres an excuse as to why...i do use photoshop and video editing with like premiere and stuff.

Lastly im most likely going to go for 2 256gb or one 500gb SSD

Think of anything else that could im open! thanks for your time.

Not sure about X-Plane, but I am using the FX-4100 along with a Nvidia GTX 460v2 for FSX. It has been a very good combination for me.

Primarily chose the 460 instead higher series because my power supply is only 425w. Nvidia has a configurator tool on their website that is very helpful.

Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

Depending on your budget, you should try and obtain at least 16GB (2x8 DDR3 1866) of RAM. But if I were you, I would splurg a little bit more and max-out the board's RAM at 32BG (4x8 DDR3 1866) ... and from looking at the current RAM prices it would be about an extra ~$70USD to your build.

Get a bigger power supply like 600w got it for my fx6300 I use for Xplane works like a charm.  Still, X-plane at least they working on getting processing power done more and more done by the GPU than the CPU.
