April 8, 201313 yr I7-3770k be my preferred cpu. Some being a chaser for 5 fps for extra detailed airport or aircraft cant blame you.., A couple hundred dollars not worth it for as I see diminishing returns factor for me as fly low and low vfr with basic aircraft single prop planes. Still, if you are tax refund season cant blame you trying to get the best FSX performance coming can buy.
April 8, 201313 yr I'd say the K. I personally just ordered a 3820 that will push 4.2, but that's just me and hopefully ample for my needs. 680 is plenty! You could probably actually move down the a 670 and save a few. SSD is a must. I'm putting windows and FSX onto my 500gig SSD. I have a 1TB spinner for everything else. If your planning on overclocking, make sure that you have a good case with good airflow and liquid cooling. You will still have fans in the case, but the liquid cooling will only apply to the CPU (I believe?) Soundcard? Personally, I purchased one from newegg. I think it's probably more preference, but I just like the idea of the MB having even less to deal with, plus you'll get better sound. Here's what I bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102041 Sound cards can get pricey, but I'm not watching movies on them or doing any type of editing/creating/etc, so I can't justify a $200 card. Also, you might want to contact a moderator and have them move this post to the hardware forum. It seems like they have run out of patience for hardware stuff being in the wrong forums based on SpiritFlyer's sticky at the top. Chase Barnett
