April 11, 201313 yr Hi Included is a picture showing VOR approach HESH O4L. The red arrow shows approach heading to VOR SHM. Can this approach be performed using VNAV/LNAV with VOR LOCK at base turn to final? It works quite well with pmdg 737-700 but I'm not sure if this could be done in real life. Any thoughts ? -Geir Geir Hansen
April 11, 201313 yr I can't think of any reason why not. Now, in the case of VNAV / LNAV your following FMC and not using the VOR radio's to follow the radial. So VNAV/LNAV with VOR lock don't mix.If you want VOR lock then you are switching to another NAV mode. FMC will follow a lateral and vertical path conform the procedure defined in the FMC. (This means that a procedure will also be performed if setup correctly). For a VOR approach one should descend according to the profile on the plate to MDA. But from there on, I fly manually tracking the VOR with the NAV radios and keep FMC as reference only. ____________________________________________________ Dieter de Wit
