weight animation issue

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

I've just a little question and it would be great, if someone out there checked this out:

Certainly you all know this nice animation: When adding fuel or payload at the gate, the airplane bounces once which shows that weight was changed. Somehow I noticed that this effect doesn't work when changing weight in the -700 series...

Is that an issue caused by using a repaint aircraft - but repaints don't change animation effects, do they?

Maybe it has to do with the fact, that the -800 series is bigger and the weight changing effect is more noticeable there, too...

It would be great to know, if you get this difference, too.

Thanks a lot and kind regards,

Christian B.

All aircraft including the default ones have this feature. Did you try a massive weight change to see if it works? Try going from completely empty to max fuel cargo and pax. The aircraft should definitely sit lower once fully loaded.

Hello FLEX1978,

thanks for the answer. Yes, I already tried that before posting, but the animation was definitely not there...

It's funny, because when taxiing and using the brakes the nose goes down for a second, so suspension is working...

Ok folks,

the issue is solved: not noticing the weight animation was due to the camera angle. When switching views you can clearly notice, that all 737 series react to different weights. Sorry for disturbing and once again to PMDG: GREAT JOB!!

Kind regards,

There is no "weight animation".  FSX calculates the effect of aircraft weight on the undercarriage struts.  A change in weight increases or decreases strut compression.  That changes the height and angle of the aircraft relative to the ground with a slight bounce due to the spring and damping forces.

In this instance it's not so much PMDG: GREAT JOB as ACES STUDIO: GREAT JOB.
