September 27, 200421 yr Hello, I've e mailed Realair support with this problema and received a very prompt reply (many thanks Realair). From their comments, it would appear that the error is with my system rather than the Scout program. I did a search but didn't find anybody else with the same thing. If nobody else reports a problem I conclude that it's probably my system. However, I thought I just do a quick post just in case there was someone that did get it, hadn't posted, but had resolved it.When I'm using the Realair Scout and I try to contact ATC, I hear my "voice" ok. However, when ATC reply all I hear is a sort of tat,tat,tat.tat... To continue I need to press the key which corresponds to my reply. The problem only occurs with the Scout. I have the Flight1 Cessna and that is ok. In addition, I cannot open the additional screens in the 2d cockpit. Pressing SHIFT 1,2 etc does nothing. My theory is that it could possibly be the "dirty window" graphics making extra strain on my system. The Scout is the only plane I have with this feature. When I get back home tonight, I'll change this to the "clean window" and see if that helps. I seem to remember that I might have had a similar problem with all ATC transmissions prior to upgrading my memory and graphics card but I can't be certain. Great plane otherwise.VictorAMD Athlon 1800XP512MB RAMRadeon 9600Pro 128MBXP Service Pack2MyTraffic 2004Active Camera 2004Active Sky 2004
September 27, 200421 yr Tried an uninstall/reinstall. Tried turning down the sound quality settings. Tried turning down scenery settings. Tried "clean" windows rather than "dirt" windows. Still no luck. As no other aircraft is affected a full reinstall of FS9 doesn't seem worthwile. Gone back to Realair with my lack of progress. I'm stumped. They're stumped. Everybody's stumped!:-) Like they said, the Realair installation doesn't change any default sound settings and the 2d panel uses basic panel.cfg files.I am determined not be defeated on this. Somehow I'll find a solution! :D
September 27, 200421 yr I had a similar problem it was something to do with the AC??? sound drivers happens with M/B/s with built in sound I think I ajusted the directX sound accelation or something but the problem is in that area.Sound drivers or DirectX sorry I cant be more specific its been a while since I used my old system... and just going by memeory
September 28, 200421 yr Victor,Just a SWAG. Take a look to see if your sound card and video card share the same IRQ.Mike --Mike MacKuen
September 28, 200421 yr Thanks for the replies. I'll try them out this evening. Not sure why only one aircraft would be affected though.Victor
September 28, 200421 yr Hi Victor,It's just occured to me that whether the problem stops when reducing the frame rate in FS9 display properties. I've never had this on our aircraft but with some particularly graphic intensive aircraft, with some drivers (Nvidia) I have experienced sound drop outs when setting frame rates above say 35-40 if I'm in dense scenery.I would say that apart from the IRQ sharing already mentioned, this could well be your video hogging resources. When you set FS9 frame rates to a high number or unlimited, the sim often struggles to maintain them. With some of the Nvidia drivers, especially those delivering high frame rates rather than high stability, there may be crosstalk between video and sound.Kind Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulationswww.realairsimulations.com Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
September 28, 200421 yr Ahaa! I knew it was worth posting. Ben's comments about DirectX reminded me that I'd adjusted my sound values, using DXDIAG, to "no acceleration". I can't remember exactly why I did it but I guess it was a performance issue at some point (I have onboard sound). I updated to "full acceleration" and the ATC sounds fine now.Still having a problem with the 2d panels but if I can't get that sorted I can live with it.
September 28, 200421 yr Cool glade to see I kinda helped out DirectX used to be the bane of my existance on my old 1.5ghz beast :)
