April 22, 201313 yr Hello, i have recently stumbled upon an interesting video: Driven by curiosity i tried to emulate these "manuvers" and compare the indications. In ngx, the speedtape will not dissapear, when crossing 450 knots indicated, also, the vertical speed indicator will not stop at 9999 ft. The Baro will not change color. Which behaviors are right then?
April 22, 201313 yr Commercial Member That's a good question. It also begs the question: You're going to kill yourself in the process of ever seeing those indications, so why does it matter? Kyle Rodgers
April 22, 201313 yr Author Well, seeing, that it is present on the video, i'd wager that someone thought of it as important to the simulated experience, so it was implemented. ^^
April 23, 201313 yr Great vid, I have never tried this in the sim. Regarding the SPD indication, this is an undocumented scenario, so it reasonable for PMDG not to have implemented it. I'm guessing the SPD indication could be due to the speed was more than the speed range and so was considered invalid by the system. The designers probably figured there wouldn't be any wings or fins at that point anyway! It looks like the right FMC failed for a while (the VTK and LDG ALT are the tell tails), I don't know why, possibly excessive values, attitudes, rates of turn that it interpreted as invalid data too. The amber baro is because he descended below 7000, is normal and is unrelated to the situation.
April 23, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the clarification, completely forgot about the baro indication logic
