Radar Contact and Q400

Featured Replies

I am really enjoying flying this aircraft. I use Radar Contact and it works for the most part but when descending RC has trouble recognizing that I am descending and keeps giving me the warning even though I am descending to the assigned alt. (usual 3 warnings and you have to report).

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks

Darcy

I also have experienced this same problem from Radar Contact "Sir, you have busted your assigned altitude 3 times now, etc"  only during decent.

Just report that jerk to the FSDO. That's what I'd do.

In all seriousness, did the controller give you a "no later than" restriction? It's always 30NM. If so, it's possible you just didn't reach your assigned altitude fast enough. I've also noticed that anything less than ~300 FPS vspeed is considered a leveloff.

The more I think about it, I'm wondering if it might be a communication issue. I noticed a few people having ACARS issues as well. I seem to recall a few other reporting anomalies. Perhaps it has to do with the use of an external FDE. The same reason ProATC-X can't tune your radios and transponder. Mere speculation though.
