May 3, 201313 yr Finally a case of government going in a positive direction toward general aviation. Recent legislation, fueled so to speak by an intense AOPA lobbying effort, was passed in Indiana almost eliminating the excise tax on avgas, and removing the state sales tax from parts used in aircraft repairs and maintenance. The previous sales tax on repair and maintenance parts had cost Indiana aviation services providers dearly, as it became much less expensive to fly or otherwise transport aircraft to neighboring states for repairs.
