May 6, 201313 yr Hi! Starting FSX with PMDG737 is no issue. However only as long as the CDU is NOT progammed with another flight other then the standard NGX flights. When preparing and flying a route, I can save this flight, but at FSX start-up and selecting this plane, FSX crashes. Also when I load the same (saved) plane from within FSX, after start-up with a standard airplane, it will crash. So I can open FSX, as long as I do not select PMDG with a CDU containing a flightplan I made and loaded/saved in this CDU. I use FSX Gold, with Accelerator or with SP1&2, no changes. Regards, peter
May 6, 201313 yr use FSX Gold, with Accelerator or with SP1&2, no changes If you installed SP2 with Acceleration installed, this is your problem. It's one or the other. FSX Gold contains Acceleration and will install SP1 but not SP2 because Acceleration IS SP2 but modified so SP2 users can't use the stuff that came with Acceleration. Every time you load the PMDG737NGX, you have to load the proper flight plan into the CDU/FMC. If you save the flight, the CDU has to be reprogrammed for each individual flight. For more information regarding this, I would recommend posting a question in the PMDG Forum. Saving flights belonging to commercial aircraft (not default) is completely different mainly because the default aircraft do not contain a working CDU/FMC. Disclaimer: I have never tried this with a commercial aircraft but believe this is the cause of the crash. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! May 6, 201313 yr Author Hi Jim, TY for your reply. I did not install both, but removed Accellaration and installed SP2 to see if this would help. However, I have now installed the SP1c update from PMDG for a higher Version. I started to program a flight and half way I had to stop. Saved it as is and then re-opened FSX. Then tried to load the flight and to my surprise it came a I left it. Relief, cause you can continue rather then start all over again. Perhaps this was the clue!? Regards, Peter
May 6, 201313 yr Saved it as is and then re-opened FSX. I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. You installed the PMDG737NGX SP1c update, loaded the flight you had saved and it started up as you had left it? Unfortunately this does not work for me. I had never used this save option and, based on your post, decided to try it out. Loaded the PMDG737NGX at KDCA then started programming a flight plan in the CDU/FMC. Got to entering the FL then saved the flight. Exited FSX and then restarted FSX. At the FSX setup page, I clicked on the flight I had saved. Yes, the aircraft loaded at the same location where I had saved the flight but the CDU/FMC was not completed. No FL, but weight, reserve fuels were there. No origin or destination was shown. No LEGS page. So, it did not work for me. Has your problem been fixed with the installation of the SP1c? Hopefully it has. You might want to look into a good flight planner that saves flight plans in PMDG FMC format, like FS Build and ProATC-X. This will save you hundreds of hours setting up a flight plan with waypoints, etc. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! May 7, 201313 yr Author Hi Jim, It is now like this. What I did experience was FSX crash after loading a flight saved with programmed CDU. Now with the (pmdg)Sp1c installed, I can save the PMDG airplane whenever I like. This is then a new flight of course, not with opening an old one. That indeed does not work. It now starts up where I left, complete with legs etc. so a lot of time is saved. Still I will have a look at what you suggested reg. a proper flightplanner. I do have FSCommander since about a month, but for now more to follow the airplane and checking airways etc. Still a lot to learn! Best regards, Peter
May 7, 201313 yr According to this link, FS Commander works fine with PMDG's 737NGX. Just make sure you copy the flight plan to the PMDG flight plan folder and then you can load it via the CoRoute LSK in the PMDG FMC. Just click on the LSK and then hit the Previous or Forward keys on the FMC to find the flight plan you want. It evidently does not include the SID and STAR though but those you can load in the Dep/Arr Page of the FMC. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
