ORBX AU recommendations

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm thinking about starting to fly in Australia, and I'd like to get one or two airports for that region.

That being said, I'd like you to know that I already have AU SP4 and Brisbane as well as Alice Springs. While I'm very happy with how YBAS performs, I have serious problems with YBBN (it's the only scenery that gives me OOM errors!).

What I'm looking for are airports that are large enough to handle aircraft like the A320, or at least the Dash 8, if possible within a short distance (less than about 300nm), I'd just like to know what you guys recommend. So far I've kinda narrowed it down to Coffs Harbor, Hervey Bay, Cairns, Bundaberg and Moorabbin, I'm justnot sure which of these are the best.

Thanks for your help, and feel free to add others you regard worth buying.

Regards,

Flo

Hi Florian,

I think Cairns (and Canberra) will perform similar to your Brisbane. They are both recommendable; why not define a lower scenery settings profile to use with these airports?

Coffs Harbour I'd recommend, too; one of my other favourites is Port Macquarie.

Further south I rate Essendon over Melbourne.

Don't forget to check out the freeware ORBX AU airports and the freeware Gold Coast airport from the AVSIM library!!

Thanks for your input, Oliver! I have most of those freeware airports already, and I'll definitely take a look at Gold Coast. That one's by Max Krause, isn't it?

As for the performance of YBBN, I actually can't complain, it's just the OOMs, especially during the night. I think I've read somewhere that it's related to the lighting system, which would explain the problems occuring mostly at night, but I'll give it a try with lower settings as well.
