The manual states that waypoints in a flight plan can be entered via the cockpit keyboard. This doesn't appear to work for dirt-to waypoints, you're stuck spinning the knob. I haven't found the keyboard to be usable for anything.

Spin the knob once to get the characters alive and changing, then the keyboard works.
